Benchmark of GPA/ PERCENTAGES

Thanks for your reply. In my school Percentages did not matter much, more important was how creatively one could perform, but that is not the case when it comes to B-school hence I am very much concerned.

It seems I will really have to concentrate on my GMAT score.

i see - that is a bit different than here. Do they have positions in class? Like what top percentage of class you are in etc? Do you have an estimate of what your grade average - mostly As/Bs etc. or even guesstimate test score averages?

Ideally no.No body looked at anyone's marksheet. Since I did bachelors in Fashion, most employers or teachers were most concerned about student's design collection. It really did not matter how much a student scored in Textile science or History of western art.

When I graduated the highest percentages holder scored about 69%. But how do i show that while applying to B-school? however I have a combined marksheet of 6 semesters, which explains my performance subject wise.

what are the grades on marksheets? are those A-F or percentage as well? It seems if highest is 69% then yours might be very good. But it is hard to tell but i am sure adcom have seen situations like this before and will make a good judgment.

I am facing this Percentage to GPA dilemma myself and after having spoken to a professor in Ivy league, I learnt that a <3.5 could be risky as it brings down the average of the entering class. I reached out to the school to find out how my 78%, and being in the top 5 in a class of 60 would be normalized to a GPA but haven't heard back. There are no grades on my mark-sheet, so all one can know is that it is an Honors degree from a certain university in India. Looking at some conversion formulae on Internet, my GPA can go as low as 2.9, which I personally feel is inaccurate.
Should I try to explain my position on percentage and all in the optional essay? Earlier I was thinking of explaining a recent job switch, the only one in last 7 years, in the optional essay. Can I explain two things in the optional essay - % and job switch?
