Best Online Course to get 700+  [#permalink]

Hi,

I completed the basic Kaplan prep that comes with the book and a few online CATs. I studied by doing the problem sets in the book as well as quizzes and practice exams. I was consistently scoring in the mid to high 600s, normally scoring 43-47 on quant and 35-42 on verbal. I studied for about 2 months and recently took the actual GMAT for the first time. I scored a 640 but I I ran out of time and had to guess on 5 questions in each section. I know I could use a few points in quant but I need the most help in verbal. I also struggle with time. I don't think I need any tutoring I just need a little more practice and maybe better ways to analyze the questions. I think I have the online courses narrowed down to the Veritas online Prep and the E-Gmat prep. Does anybody have any thoughts on these or better recommendations. I would like to not spend over $700.

Thanks,

Clinton

Hey cspencer90

Welcome to GMATClub.

First off, when you say I was consistently scoring in the mid to high 600's, I hope
you are talking about the scores in the GMATPrep tests. The scores you get in these
tests are the closest to what you are going to get on the real exam. So, if you were
to ask me, the first step would be to take a GMATPrep test(if you haven't taken one)

There are a lot of online courses available on the market and each of them cater to a
specific audience. In order to understand which course is perfect for you, you might
want to have a look at the review section here at GMATClub and do a free trial. This
will help you understand which course will suit your requirements. If you were to ask
me, as a non-native, the SC on eGMAT is extremely good. For CR, you can read the
PowerScore CR Bible and practice is key where it comes to RC.

Please find below the post which might help you make that decision
https://gmatclub.com/forum/best-gmat-co ... 69396.html

Hope this helps!

Hi Clinton

To start, a 640 is a solid performance, so it could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. There's certainly no harm in retesting though - and you're actually closer to a 700+ score than you probably realize. Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How have you scored on EACH of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
2) What were the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for your Official 640 score?

Goals:
3) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
4) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,
Rich

Hi cspencer90,

It's a good thing you have taken a GMAT once. You now know your weaknesses and can work on them. For verbal, I would highly encourage you to consider e-gmat verbal online or the e-gmat verbal live course. They are both amazing courses especially designed for non-natives. They offer almost 25% of their courses for free so you can try out their free trial to decide which one you want to go for. Plus the e-gmat Scholaranium which is included in both the courses is one of the best verbal practice tools in the market. You can easily track your progress in that you can identify your strengths and analyze and improve on your weak areas.

You can also try out the MGMAT guides they are phenomenal and cover the entire syllabus really well. Just by going through these guides and solving the OG will help you reach 600+.I must add that if you are particularly looking to discover and improve on your weak areas in Quant; a subscription to GMATCLUB tests is the best way to do that. They are indeed phenomenal and will not only pinpoint your weak areas but also help you improve on them.

Further taking multiple mocks might help. Apart from the GMATPREP, Manhattan GMAT tests and Veritas Prep Tests in my experience have good verbal and Quant section and will certainly help you point out and improve your weak areas.

Further another advantage of taking many mocks is to build up your stamina. Apart from the GMATPREP tests, taking practise tests of any major GMATPREP company ought to do that.

I would also encourage you to purchase the GMATPREP QP 1 for some great additional practice. Here is a link that will help you with your decision.

My personal experience is if you're weak in quant , you nees to first exhaust og and taret test prep..easily you can score 47..for the remaining points try GMAT club and other harder ones to practice. For verbal, egmat is more than enough mainly sc . Cr powerscore and rc just try out different strategies and see which one works for you. All the best

Hi Clinton,

Have you considered the CrackVerbal GMAT online course?

The CrackVerbal GMAT online course has been designed to help the busy working professionals crack the GMAT in their first attempt! The course will provide you with practical strategies and a systematic plan to prepare effectively for the GMAT along with a busy schedule.

The course has dedicated modules on How to study for the GMAT which covers areas from cognitive science, productivity techniques, and neuroscience to help you create a system to crack the GMAT (especially if you have a tough schedule at work/school during the week). None of the traditional GMAT courses actually teach you how to study effectively for the GMAT.

The CrackVerbal online course has been designed by Arun Jagannathan & Aditya kumar - who are regarded as one of the best Quant & Verbal faculty in India (their videos are even listed on MBA.com).

They also have a testing platform that contains more than 48 sectional tests along with detailed explanations and AI-based analytics. You will get a detailed performance report at the end of every test which will help you identify your areas of improvement.

You get assigned a student counselor who is just a phone call away to sort any issues or queries you are facing with your GMAT prep.

The Crackverbal GMAT online program is optimized to help you get your target GMAT score.

Actually, you can just sign up for their free GMAT online trial course to see if their teaching style meets your learning needs.
