Hi Experts,

What is the GMAT definition of an "assumption"?

I have been reading PowerScore SC Bible, and the author defines assumption as an unstated premise. This definition is consistent with many other sources written on logical reasoning / arguments. However, by this definition, a boldface text that appears in a prompt can never be an assumption (because the boldface text is explicitly stated), implying that all option choices that identifies any boldface to have any relation to an assumption is wrong (it cannot be an assumption and it cannot support / counter / provide example for an unstated premise).

I have a strong feeling I am wrong, but why?
