Break between Quant and Verbal - 10+ mins?

This is correct. Once you press submit/next on the final question your break will start. It doesn't matter if you had 1 second left or 10 minutes left in the section-- you'll have exactly 8 minutes from the time you press submit to take your break and return to the computer.

I was so antsy when taking the test that I would have gone right to the break even if I finished the quant section 20 minutes early. I just don't see the point in delaying the inevitability of the next section.

But if you do have some crazy amount of time left (maybe 10-30 minutes) you could flag down the proctor and leave your seat to take a restroom break for a while. Then just go back to your computer, press submit on the last question, and take your actual 8 minute break. But be careful managing your time because you have to check in each time you enter and leave the testing room. This can potentially take some time, especially if there are people ahead of you, because they have to scan everyone's ID and palm and escort each person individually to and from his or her chair.

Thanks guys for chiming in. I guess I will just sit there for 2-4 mins (sitting there for 15+ mins will make me antsy), take a breather and then submit my last question. From now on, I will try this in my rest of the mock tests! Hope this helps get calmer and more relaxed for Verbal.

Ahh, thanks! This will be so weird though :p. Only if I have 20+ mins left I will try that. 15 mins will be touch and go if I could not get back :p. And I don't want to experiment with my break time on the test day. I guess I am better of practicing 2-4 mins relaxing at my seat, as I am sure I will have minimum 5 mins.

Just to add here- in case you decide to leave before your scheduled time, try to solve the last question even so that when you are back from the break you need to just click submit and bingo! move to next scheduled break of 8 mins

I am not 100% sure but I think the proctor will end the section for you and force it into the break mode... that's only a guess, if anyone knows for sure, please share.

From my experience once you are done with the section and you acknowledge you have completed AWA or Quant the internal timer kicks in. So, you have to raise your hand and force your breaks. Alternatively, you can take your sweet time sitting in front of the screen if you have tons of time for the last question. This way you can get some additional rest in front of the system.

For me proctor hardly bothered whether I have completed the test or not.I mean he/she did not ask me whether you have completed a section to go on break. so I guess one may not has to divulge whether one's AWA/Quant is over to go for a break (at least that was the case with me!).
