I pick A.

Attempt to control is right, use of "into" indicating physicaly entrance is correct and lastly native to is correct.

"native to" and "in an attempt to" are correct idioms.

had been is wrong tense here.

I go with A. There is nothing wrong in it.

I chose A too..

What if we change option A by replacing "native to" with "natives of"..

native of is used for humans
native to is used for plants,animals and non living.
