Hello everyone! So I'm thinking of pursuing my MBA starting Fall 2014 (Applying fall 2013 1st round), and looking for some advice on what schools I should apply to and if I have a shot at getting into a few of my "choice" schools. I live in Denver now but got my undergrad in finance in Atlanta from Georgia State University. I'm an older student (currently 27) Graduated 2011 Cum Laude (3.53) GPA. worked all through school as a Sous Chef of a restaurant managing 6-10 people daily and calculating food costs, labor, menu design and implementation, and effectively maintained $15 million sale annually while paying for my entire education. My last summer of Undergrad I was selected for the MetLife Financial Fellowship with 60 other interns across the country. There I was elected Team leader of my group of five and given an extensive financial plan to design for a fictional couple. We won the competition and were awarded cash prize plus I had to present our plan to the entire intern class, grading professors, and VP of MetLife. After graduation, I moved back home to Denver and had a hard time finding a position as an investment analyst or in investment management (not a good market in Denver) so I landed a job as an analyst for a natural gas firm. Here I analyze production and flow of natural gas to over 500 customers while consistently checking pricing indexes on Nymex. The wonderful world of Commodity trading. Anyway, I will have about 35 months at time of matriculation and am looking at schools in California and any school I might be able to get into. Specifically My ideal school is UCLA and I also like Berkeley. I'm interested in continuing my finance education to eventually become a portfolio manager. I'm looking at wealth management or Investment management. Any help or ideas would be grateful plus I would also like to know what I would need to get on the GMAT! Thanks for the help!
