Isn't the statement C/D=9.75 sufficient?

$$\frac{C}{D}=9.75$$ <=> $$\frac{C}{D}=9+\frac{3}{4}$$ <=> $$C=D(9+\frac{3}{4})$$ <=>$$C=D(\frac{39}{4})$$
D is a positive integer so if $$D = 4$$ then $$C=39$$.

Edit : Nevermind, just realized my reasoning is flawed.

$$\frac{C}{D} = 9.75 = \frac{975}{100}$$

Divide numerator/ denominator by 25

$$= \frac{39}{4}$$ which gives remainder of 3

Could you check this? If we divide 31/4 we also have a remainder of 3. Therefore this question has two correct answers (A and D).

Thanks

Thanks

31/4 = 7.75, not 9.75.

CONCEPT: Decimal part x Divisor = Remainder

0.75 D = 3
i.e. D = 4

Now Divisible part of C by D as divisor = 9*D = 9*4 = 36

i.e. The Number C = 36+3 = 39

Simplifying the equation we have:

C/D = 9 + 0.75

C/D = 9 + 75/100

C/D = 9 + 3/4

We can also say that:

C/D = Q + 3/D

Since 3/4 = 3/D, we see that D = 4.

Thus, we see that C/4 = 9.75, so C = 4 x 9.75 = 39.
