Re: Calling All 2010 USC Marshall Applicants [#permalink]
For those of you who sent in your deposit and intent to enroll form, did you ever get any confirmation from the school? I sent mine in a few weeks ago, the check hasn't been cashed, and I never got any confirmation from the school that my spot in the class is officially reserved. I also didn't get a confirmation of my spot on admit weekend, but I guess I'll just head to Popovich Hall at 2 pm Friday if I don't hear anything else.

Why don't you just call the school and ask? I think it'd be worth the 5 minute phone call for some peace of mind... :)

I live in Palms, which is on the border of Culver City. I think its a great area. Its definitely cheaper than Brentwood, and downtown Culver City has been growing alot with nice restaurants. That said, most of the cool bars are closer to Santa Monica.

For anyone else moving from out of state, I would be happy to answer questions. Ill be going to the Admit days Friday night after work, and all day Saturday. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

Feel free to message me and Ill give you my email.

what are your thoughts on living in and commuting from Culver City?

There is no way that a commute from the south bay (redondo/torrance/etc) is easier than Santa Monica, especially going home from campus.

if commuting is a huge issue, find something downtown or near campus. Just make sure it's a relatively safe area (read: not skid row).

and in LA the difference in leaving at 7 or 7:15 can make a big difference. For some reason those extra 15 minutes are huge.

I agree. Right now I live on the border of SM/Brentwood and I don't think I would live much farther west of here because I think the commute will be about a 30-40 minutes as it is.

As for living downtown, I had some friends who lived there when I was going in undergrad (I graduated in 2007) and there are some nicer buildings for less rent. However, the Westside is nicer overall--close to the beach, post-college/younger crowd, safer, and IMHO just more things to do.

I'm also considering moving to Hollywood at some point but I have no idea what the commute is like. The distance is shorter (7-8 miles) but I think you'll probably hit a lot of downtown traffic in the AM.

Hope this helps and PM me if you have any questions!

Are you round 3? If so, are you local or out-of-state?

Sorry... forgot to mention that in my post. Yes, I am round 3 and am local.

Have interview invites to out-of-state applicants gone out?

Hey guys, it could be helpful to add your gmat score and some other information like GPA when you write a post saying you received an interview invitation... Just to have an idea of the profile

Has anyone else in round 3 received an invitation to interview? Any updates?
I believe that only 1 or 2 people in this forum as reported that they received one, again from round 3.

I think that the only way to respond is by sending in the form that was included with the admit package.

I just realized that if i was as good in english as I am in french, I would have scored probably around V42 instead of V35. It means 680 instead of 610... :? Sigh...

I threw it away...wanted to decline and give up my position for someone else...but they make it tough for me to do it!
