Hi everyone. How are you handling the redundancy in all of the essays? Are you just answering the goals essays for the individual schools as if you didn't just tell them in the Consortium goals essay?

Thanks.

Any R1 applicants have any advice for a R2 applicant regarding this? Lots of overlap between the core essay and the school specific essay. I'm a bit puzzled on how to approach two goal essays.

Consortium core essay is describe your short term and long term goals. Then for Tuck's school specific essay it's "what are your short term and long term goals, why need mba, why tuck", one of Ross's school specific essay is "what's your desired career path and why", etc.

Perhaps the core essay can outline the goals and the school specific essays can delve into the school's unique resources to achieve the goal?

Thanks in advance

The insight I got from one adcom member is that that person skims over the Consortium essay (adcom does sees all essays except the mission essay), but I know that another school I applied to does not. I would advise to answer the Consortium goals prompt clearly and succintly. When it comes to the school specific essays articulate your goals but also highlight how school X is going to help you achieve them. That is the best way to go.

The information shared at Haas's Diversity Workshop was that the adcom will not see your Consortium Mission Essay, but will see your core goals essay. So if you talk through your goals in detail in the Consortium core essay, I would maybe briefly revisit your goals (to ensure they see and remember them) and then spend more time in the school essay talking about how the school will specifically fit into your plan. Try to bring in new information in each essay to avoid sounding stale.

Congrats on the invites! Did you receive any communication from Yale prior to your interview invite and is your interview on campus?

The only communication was for the video essays. Yes, I'm doing it on campus.

For those who were invited by Yale, how long was it from submission of video responses/Consortium submission verification to invitation?

About 3 days after submitting to Consortium, I got the video essays from Yale. I submitted those several days after. I got the interview invite maybe 2 weeks after submitting the video essays.

Just got this from UCLA:

"Thank you for applying to UCLA Anderson through The Consortium. We are currently evaluating your application, and will contact you if we need any additional information.

We will begin to send out interview invitations for Round 1 Consortium interviews in early December, and the interviews will take place in early January. Admission decisions, as well as fellowship and membership decisions for all Consortium applicants, will be released in March.

Please let us know if you have any questions. Thanks again for your interest in UCLA Anderson!

Congrats to those invited to Darden! This video from Sarah Neher (Darden's Dean of admissions) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DVRryeU0n2E was super helpful. They are just getting to our Consortium interview invites now, so we are JUST getting started! :-D

They did go out. It could be possible that they might send more. I know last year some invites were sent after the major wave.
