Has anyone heard of a student who got fellowship from their #3 or #4 school??

I think this happens pretty frequently. I have a couple of friends who this happened to in prior years and they were faced with the dilemma of having to choose between their #3 (that they got the fellowship from) and their #1 (that they got into, but didn't receive any $$ from). Both picked the school that they got the fellowship from.

I got a Haas invite today, but still no word from Darden, Yale, Tuck, Stern, and Ross. I am assuming the 5 are no-invite sings.

Any insight?

Don't lose hope! I was reading last year thread and Darden was inviting people up until March 7th or so!,... they were expecting you to get there in like a 3 day notice, so be prepared to spend some cash on that trip if you are far away...

Ive heard of SOM sending out Skype interview invites up to a couple days before the deadline as well. A lot of schools also wait list without an interview, so really until the day you are released anything is possible.

Do you mind sharing when you go the "ready for review" email from Haas?

Out of curiosity, what kind of responses are people getting after they send their interviewer thank you notes? Something pretty generic or responses that are thoughtful and specific to the conversation you had?

Georgetown- received a response and she connected me to a current student
Booth- received a positive response and was connected to a alum working in my field
UNC-no response
Duke-Received a response
Darden-No response
Ross- No response
Tuck-my flight was cancelled and ended up having to do a last minute skype interview. She was very understanding and got a response to my thank you this morning for being able to accomodate me given the situation

If schools are allowed to reply to thank you emails, from what we see in above posts, and they don't I assume that foreshadows a ding? I feel like if they wanted you they would respond quickly and easily let dings go unreplied :(

i don't think so. I've seen some people on here get replies to thank you notes and then get dings or waitlists. Likewise I've seen people with no replies to thank you emails get accepted with scholarships etc.

You're reading way too much into whether some adcom member and/or 2nd year replied back to an interviewee's email. It's really not that significant!!

Yea I also don't think it means anything. I just brought it up out of curiosity for the different types of responses that people were getting and how it differed across schools. It isn't anything to read into..

In all honesty it depends on the person. I have been ok t his b school journey for over 2 years so I have developed excellent relationships with my target school. With me also being an MLT fellow, I have been able to foster additional relationships, so at the end of the day if they respond or do not respond you will find out if you are in within the next few weeks. MLT does an excellent job with getting its fellows into top 10 MBA program and top 25 programs overall.

Well I thought I killed the interviews - literally the adcom's jaw dropped when I was talking. No joke jaw dropped for like a minute straight amazed. Just seems a little strange not to get anything when other people did. Man balancing optimism and humbleness is annoying me lol

Hopefully my wind chime and tea leaves point north by sunset and align with the Milky Way!

I gotta echo what others were saying... in the end whatever they do or do not say to a thank you note probably has no bearing on your application.

On a somewhat related note, while my Darden interviewer himself did not respond to me, I did contact a first year student and a second year student that I met during the day's other activities for a thank you and a few follow up questions, and both of them responded promptly with great info for me.

Yup, the students are pretty good at replying. I email a "thank you" note after every interview, and the only people who replied were the students. Can't believe the draft is in like 10 days!!!

Just FYI in case anyone gets confused - this recap was about the prior year (2014 intake with 3/11 draft) and pertains to fellowship decisions.
