Hi any interview invites after waiver from Kellogg? Or is it time to drop it completely? Also, anybody has any idea when the latest invites after waiver went out last year, when should one assume the case is closed?

Feeling flustered with being the only guy with a GRE score in this cruel 770 GMAT zone

My profile outside my GMAT is pretty average. I'm applying for the first time this year, if I reapply next year, I might aim for some 20-50 progs

I too am applying for the first time in R2 this month.
My first application. Weird (bitter sweet) experience.

With all due regards for whatever research you have done, and all your modesty, MBA apps are the last place to be humble.

I understand, I wouldn't state I was average on an application.

A quick overview of my profile (happy to share more):
Education: Engineering in NUS (Singapore) w 2.88 GPA
Work Experience: 2.5 years in consulting, 1.5 in investment management (but operations role there)
Extracurriculars: nothing much really, but started a small investment club with friends and some start-up consulting
MBA goal: transition to MBB focusing on fintech

Stanford Admissions this year have been almost unpredictable, and extremely tough.
An Indian Female Engineer got a ding at Stanford, but a Full Tuition (PLUS living expenses) from Wharton.

Where you intend to go to does NOT make a difference.

The feasibility and clarity of your Goals do.


Yes, but wouldn't returning to India help avoid any potential visa issues? That would address the feasibility issue, in a sense, no? For example, aiming for a MBB role in the US vs in India wouldn't the latter seem more plausible?

Apologies if this is a bad/obvious question - I'm in the process of familiarizing myself with the visa process


The School admissions process is completely separated from the Visa process. As long as the work Visa is a valid, legit process, a goal is looked at in the light of other things.

Well, I’m a pessimist I would say. After talking to friends at the top 10 schools and visiting them, I think the reality is far from what is often portrayed. I did a school visit to Ross recently and the girl (indian but US citizen) who was showing us the school told the school should do better in communicating the real situation with recruitment. Most of her friends recruiting for consulting were struggling to get a good job. Her point was MBB is what everyone dreams of but truth is these jobs are only a handful and most have to settle with less prestigious roles. Saying that, I still think there is long term value in a top10 MBA.

I have spoken to people who have done that and I am doing it too. But I will go back to India and get my visa stamped instead of just changing the status.

I think it is on us applicants to infer that not everyone is going to make it to MBB by seeing the employment reports! I don't think any school would actually tell us explicitly that it is tough to get an offer from MBB. Also from my conversations with current students while visiting the campuses, I don't think "a lot of folks" ended up going back to India without a job. There maybe few cases but at the same time I am sure some domestic students struggle to get a job as well.

Is it just me or there are others as well who think that the American MBA has sort of lost its glitter this time? I am seeing subdued responses in different threads, invites seem to be on an all time low for Indians and I am hearing from a few friends from the states that even finding internships is a challenge. Few graduates(MS) told me that there offers were rescinded from companies such as Salesforce.

Then obviously not getting an invite for me is another factor but still the MBA scene does look a little weird. For those who disagree, I would love to hear from them. Looking for whatever optimism I can get.

Couldn't agree more. Majority of my Indian friends who just graduated from top 10 US B Schools have recruited outside of the US. Great jobs (read MBB, bulge bracket IBs) still but just not in the US. Only 2 that I know could get a similar job in the US.

Sorry, but that's NOT true.

Almost 80% of internationals are able to recruit for jobs within the US (within the top 16 schools - I dont have any data beyond that). This is from publicly available employment reports.

I was merely trying to state that things could get worse - ofcourse they could get better too!

EasyMBAAdmit - not sure where you are getting your info - it's definitely incomplete I can assure you.
