Calling All CBS 2011 Applicants!!

In my opinion, NZOMNIAC, if you're looking to do consulting you probably shouldn't consider either CBS or Booth, given ~50% of students go into finance, whereas at Kellogg it is the reverse: ~50% go to consulting. But that is my thought on that matter.

Post MBA I plan to start my own consulting firm in India - so its probably entrepreneurship + consulting

I cleared CFA Level 2 as a hobby which Booth/CBS may like

Writing essays 24X7 for last 3 weeks about career goals has led to a assertive/pompous tone in my posts.. I am usually undecided abt everything (libran) ..:)

One of my referees has still not submitted the recommendation. Will this significantly delay the processing of my application? I submitted the application on 5 Jan.

Has anyone else's application status changed from being printed to under review? Mine still says being printed. Submitted 1/4 and called in today to make sure nothing was missing. US applicant.

Probably lots of people applying on 1/4 and 1/5. Mine changed a week ago, but I submitted on 12/31.

Has anyone who submitted in late december got an interview invite yet? I submitted on christmas day and went under review on 1/4. No word yet, so starting to get concerned.

Nah, most timelines that I have seen indicate that people get invited for an interview a 4-6 weeks after their applications go under review. You're only at the 2 week mark.

Thanks. So I guess I have some breathing room. I've heard of people getting invites a week after going under review, but I guess those are the superstars.

Submitted on 1/4 and my application status changed from 'being printed for review' to 'under review' just a few hours ago. My heart skipped a beat when I received the email notification. Now it is beating even faster.

pomposity is different from assertiveness, if you know what I mean.


Relax. Though I think its pretty misinformed for anyone to think of a top 10 school as a backup (in fact one of my good friends even got dinged at McCombs and accepted to Stanford.. - McCombs has the best accounting program in the nation), I hardly think saying you passed the CFA level 2 exam is pompous. Funny thing is that I'm pretty sure most people at Columbia HAVE passed all 3 levels as it is a finance heavy program.

Columbia only accepts 10% of applicants? I thought it was 15%.


some years is has been ~13%. I guess they were rounding down.


The number of fingers most people have would not give the adequate resolution to signal the 15% acceptance rate.
