Hey Guys !
I had my interview a couple of days ago over the phone (It had been over two weeks, No response from the Alum).
Here is a rundown of it. Probably will help someone.
My interviewer was a friendly guy and really wanted to understand what i did.
- It started with : - Walk me thru your resume. He was interested in some of my undergraduate activities (I am a young applicant), then the organizations i have worked in, my role currently as an entrepreneur... in the same answer i talked about my vision - Why MBA (He confirmed the reasons). A lot of discussion on this part and we discussed it for 10 - 15 mins.
- Then what are my short term goals : I talked about goals and why are they my goals (A logical progression of what i have done till now !)
- What do i do in my free time ? (I enjoy playing my guitar ..i told him about a couple of songs i enjoyed playing..he was amused
)
- How would i contribute to Columbia ( I talked about how i would contribute as a student and as an alumni - carry the spirit of the school with me... My answer was a bit long..so he said lets move on as he had an idea about what i wanted to convey)
- Other schools you have applied to : I mentioned why columbia is my first choice, i compared columbia with each school and why did i prefer it more. I did try and squeeze why columbia part here but seems we were short on time so kind cut it short. I think i could have added a bit more.
- Then came the ethical dilemma questions : Really asked me a lot of questions, what actions did i do, what were the consequences ?
- Any questions for me ?
Thats it. Overall, i believe it was a decent effort from my side. He was positive at the end.
But on the flip side i submitted my application on January 6, so its almost going to be 12 Weeks soon....lets see. Another thing I am a young international applicant (going to be 25 at matriculation) so you never know what happens ! I believe as someone mentioned that "Our fates are sealed before the interview ". Lets see if its a ding...I am headed to UCLA.
