Calling All Georgetown 2011 Applicants (Updated)

6:25 email was a waitlist for me. damn. really disappointing.

got an email... W/l in R1 and W/l in R2... what does it mean?? do I have a chance?

R1 waitlist applicant - just got the email. Waitlisted again!

I am no expert by any means, but someone hit it pretty close with the idea that at McDonough, there is a very good chance of W/L moving to accepted.

McDonough loses a lot of people to Darden/Wharton/UNC and other surrounding schools with slightly (UNC) to considerably (Wharton) better reputations/stats/rankings.

There is a good chance that in the next two weeks, a good amount of people who got accepted to GTown will be accepted to one of these other schools and turn McDonough down (more so than maybe some other schools).

I personally think too much stock is put between the differnece between a #17 vs. #23 ranked B-school but a lot of people will have some decisions to make.

Not sure how you're inferring that lots of people get admitted off of the waitlist from those numbers. How do you know that 690 weren't admitted during the normal rounds and just 2 were admitted off of the waitlist?

edit - sorry for the aggressive tone. I'm a little bent out of shape that I got waitlisted.

McDonough seems to be very stingy this year with regards to those admitted without spending time on the waitlist and with regards to the amount of financial aid offered. There appears to be many applicants with strong profiles that hopefully will be able to join next fall. Good luck to all!

Check business week's Georgetown profile. It provided numbers on how many w/l and how many got in off w/l.

I'm not sure if I'll pursue the wait-list yet. I'm into some other good schools and don't know if I want to drag the process out til mid-May...anyone else in a similar position?

I put myself on the waitlist, pending the decisions over next couple weeks.

Any updates about scholarships? Did majority of us just not get it? Any chance some of us could get extra happy when we get the admit packages?

seems like in round 1 everyone who got $ found out in the online letter, but since no one in round 2 had it in their letter yet maybe they are just doing it differently this round! hopefully

WL again. I'll probably stay on just to see what happens, but another two months? I don't have all year...

That would be great, but it sounds like VLM heard in his letter. I'm still holding out a sliver of hope though.

That came right from McDonough's "Cost and Financial Aid" section of the website. I would post a link but the forum doesn't find me trustworthy enough...damn forum.

I hope I'm wrong because I could use the help tackling that $72,384 a year number.
