HKUST 2011-2012 - Calling All Applicants

Hi Everyone,

New to the thread as I just found it, great info here

I applied in R1 as well and intereviewed within 2 weeks. They sent me the "need 4 more week until decision" email back in mid Decemeber. HKUST is my first choice and I hope to get the acceptance soon! They are waiting on my hardcopy transcript still from my undergrad school so I don't know if that has affect on it, hope they get it in the next few days as my school sent it to them before christmas

To the people that have been admitted, congrats and how do they tell you? email first?

Keeping my fingers crossed in Toronto, Canada! Thanks in advance for any replies!

just to note: My backgroud is Elec Eng and I'm a project manager at a Nuclear Power Plant (6 years). I also have experience in Real Estate Sales as Im a part time Realtor. (3 years)

Hi! Well, I will just say, apparently it is a very slow boat to China. I had my undergrad office mail a transcript on Dec 13th, and it just got to them yesterday!! When I applied, I just used a scanned copy of my transcript, and I only sent a hardcopy after I was accepted but told I needed to send it in.

They let me know of my acceptance via email, title of the email was "HKUST MBA: Admissions notification - NAME (Reference No: #######)", and I got it at 4AM NYC time :) Then a couple of nights ago they had one of their adcom call me with the interviewers' feedback and to answer any questions I might have.

lol, ya the mail takes long over christmas and new years i guess when going overseas. I will be looking at my emails for that subject no doubt in the next couple of weeks.

Im probably in the boat with the R2 people that are currently being interviewed I guess.....out of my control now so we will see.

Hoping to be at HKUST this falll though!

I applied R2 and received an interview invite. For those who have interviewed with hkust, are you allowed to ask questions at the end of the interviews?

There are two separate interviews, and the allow sufficient time for questions in the end! Good luck!

just found out that I didn't get admitted to HKUST...although CEIBS is my top choice and I got in, I was hoping to be put in the position to have to choose. :) haha. well congratulations to all that got admitted to HKUST!! and good luck to all those who are still waiting for a response.

as for those who are planning to go to CEIBS, planning to take the mandarin course in july? i know i sure am!

it depends.. i got a mail about 2 weeks after my interview saying they require 4 more weeks.. whereas someone on this forum got to know after two weeks..
so safe to say 2 to 6 weeks!

hi mbaabroad,

sure, coming from a very "exotic" place in the Indian ocean ( Madagascar),working in IBank in Singapore, studied in France, worked in London before.
quite good EC ( created a networking platform)..
UG in one of Top french Univ, Gmat 600ish.

Hello all,

I applied in R1 and I am still waiting. Havent been accepted or dinged...but got ask to do a second interview today with head of career services to do a career consultation next week. I think they are having a tough time deciding on my application. anyone else in the same boat???

HKUST is my first choice so im hoping this second call goes well. congrats to the people already accepted!

berger,

sorry i meant to say i got the email notifying me of the second interview today. im not scheduled to do the interview until next week as well. perhaps they have everyone in the same boat doing the interviews with career advancements on the same day.

dont know what to expect...perhaps they want to make sure your career direction is clear to them?

wait...have you already been accepted? I thought in an earlier post you mentioned that you were.

I was thinking all the people they wanted to talk to again would be the ones that they are reallly on the fence with.

chiukel, I think so too. no I have not been accepted yet. we'll see..
I believe they want to clarify with us if an MBA does really help us achieve our goals... At some point, I was quite annoyed of not having heard from them for a long time, and then being asked to interview once more. On the other hand, it's good to see that they really care about who they admit. :)
