I have a very basic question .

I have a exp of almost five years and presently working in DAD(defense accounts department )Financial advising to Defence and Audits them also. Previously was working as an Senior Software developer with global exposure, But I scored not well in Gmat (620). Should I apply to it or write it again in august and then I should apply.

Hey,

For those of you who have plans to get a job in the US after b-school, you should definitely check out pymetrics.

pymetrics is a neuroscience game-based platform that reveals your traits and matches you with companies and jobs you're compatible with.

It's free, fun and easy.

Rohit, retaking the GMAT will be your best approach. 620 is below par and reduces your chances of admit.

BTW, there is a newer thread to post your queries for the class of 2017 intake

For those of you interested in getting a job in the US after your MBA, I recommend a site called pymetrics.

pymetrics is a neuroscience game-based career assessment resource. After completing 12 short (2 min) games, you'll receive a profile with your top social and cognitive traits. Then the software calculates your career results. You will receive industry, company and ultimately job matches that you are compatible with. I found my MBA internship through this site. It's FREE and fun to do!

Im a mechanical engineer. My gmat score is 640 in my second attempt in August 2015.
I worked for 2 year 6 months in 2011-2013 in TCS(CAD project).
I have quit working later for personal reasons.
Can I apply for ISB this year with this score.
Is there any chance for my profile being evaluated?

Hi Mechmeera,

A 640 will be low, and with the career gap you have, might not be able to get you an interview call. You should try and raise your score to at least a 700, and if possible, as much in excess of even this number as you can push yourself to achieve. You will also need to provide strong reasons for taking the time off. For now, though, focus on the GMAT and getting a better score.

Hi Mechmeera! With 640, less than 3yrs workex and a gap after 2013, there is hardly any chance at ISB. Understanding your profile and aspirations better, we may be able to propose the most feasible options.

Can you just explain what can be the most feasible options? Pardon me if you find this question silly.

No question is silly! :) Most feasible options are those that you are likely to get given your profile and GMAT considering your aspirations. We will need to discuss your profile in further detail to propose any options. If you would like us to contact you, you may mail your contact details to info@isbmantra.com

Hi

Can anyone please tell me that in case of a reapplicant do I have to create a new profile? or the last year's credentials work?

I have already created a new profile though.

Please advice

This should be the main takeaway for the majority of the applicants. I personally feel that CAs, Docs, PSU applicants (generally anyone who can add any form of diversity to the classroom) find it easier in either round

No... A candidate with a PSU background hardly has any chance in R1 and a CA or Doctor will find it very difficult to get in in R2... Trust me on this one...

Is there any specific reason why it is difficult for CA's and Doctor's to get into MBA programs ?.

I am a Chartered Accountant with experience of 3 years in to IT ERP Consulting with international client facing experience and looking forward to apply for ISB in next fall. Please advise me on my profile.
