Calling all Kellogg Fall'08 applicants

Well MBA, its good to know I will have at least one friendly face at school next fall...and a dogsitter haha.

I'm interested in talking to some of you about what attracted you to Kellogg, and what your histories are like. I took my GMAT today, was dissapointed in my score, but would like to get some more color around what a successful Northwestern applicant looks like. Please PM me if you are willing to chat.

MBTC, there are usually chats during the weekend. Sundays are the normal day but with the superbowl that probably wont happen. Usually there are 2 or 3 of us Kellogg admits on there. Probably the easiest place to catch us for a chat. Stop by in the evenings and look for posts on chats.

Adcom waived my interview today (I hope they did it before reading my app)...

The email starts 'Due to these circumstances...' What circumstances?? Guess it's just the app volume...They assured me this will not effect my app and said I do not need to do anything.

I have a decent profile, but did not do a great Kellogg app, so was not too bullish on a K admit...however, disappointed that I don't get to practice interview skills before W and GSB

Also, I live in Richmond, VA...2hrs away from DC...Can't believe they cannot find a alumni around here for me

I interviewed at Kellogg on Monday (the 28th). Extremely friendly Adcom and straightforward questions (though they did ask me for two weaknesses both overall and as a leader).

Kind of odd that waived an interview in the US- thought that this is usually the problem internationally.

ujjib- you might want to reach out to them and schedule an on campus interview maybe?

About the same number of applicants in R2 as R1 now. We had 9 admits in R1, so hopefully R2 has as much success. Last year R2 actually did much better than R1, so that may bode well for you guys.

Dosa, just found out that another richmond friend got a Kellog interview waiver this morning...so, guess it's just the location..

Well, atleast my app is ready for review right now (while adcom may be waiting for interviews and interview results on some other applications)..if i do not get a phone interview request in the next 2 weeks, then i know it's a ding..

They only load up alums with a set number of interviews. There probably arent as many alums in DC as you think. They also may not think to have you interview 2 hours away. I live an hour north of boston and I interviewed where I live, its a small city and probably only has one alum.

Just completed my alumni interview. It was my most informal interview I have had thus far (I've only complete two others: GSB and Wharton in R1). The alumni spent the bulk of the time trying to sell me on Kellogg rather than asking me questions. Odd! Oh well, he made it very clear that Kellogg is a perfect fit given my goals and my past experience. Now let's hope that the Ad Com agrees

But I thought they are not supposed to have access to your essays. This almost sounds like he had seen your essays.

I have a question about interviews. Let's say one knows the interviewer's year of graduation and the company and position they are in. How would you guys leverage that information to your advantage? What sort of research, etc. would you do?

Interesting question. I was able to find out more than just the graduation year, I found out that my interviewer (for London Business School) worked in a Private Equity company. So I researched all about the company, and was able to talk to him about his industry in a relatively knowledgable manner. Having said that, the finance industry is my target so I was able to show my passion/interest for it through my conversation anyhow (even outside of PE ).

How do you find details about alumni? Google or provided by school or access to alumni database?
