Well, that's a pretty cookie-cutter profile you got there for many top schools. I'm no authority, but I hear in later rounds GMAT/GPA matter more, as adcoms are less likely to take chances on people with sketchy stats, such as yours truly. Assuming you have a high GMAT that would give you a better shot, but being from an overrepresented demographic may make things a little more difficult in R3. My revised percentage is 14.796327% assuming you have a 750 GMAT and 6.132587% assuming a 650 GMAT.

HAHAHA thanks man.. sorry for omitting my gmat score.. it was 710 so i guess my percentage is between 6% and 15%... haha and why are my stats sketchy?

So when I had my interview with an Adcom person, she told me I'd hear back within 3 weeks - I asked her if there was any correlation between how late I heard back and my chances of getting in and she said none whatsoever; timing just depends on how much they've got going on at the time.

So, it's been a week since my interview ...

WHY DO I STILL FEEL LIKE THE LONGER IT TAKES, THE MORE I'M DOOMED!!!

I'd imagine that at a school like NYU which is so concerned with the "show me you love me" aspect of the app that you'd have to take even more time explaining why you didn't apply in R1 or R2, no?

agreed... i wrote a little piece why i applied in R3 in my optional essay...

You definitely don't have to worry about the timing, pudgethefish. Of the people I know personally who got in to NYU, none of us heard before two weeks had passed, and two of them heard in the third week. The wait is certainly excrutiating, but in the end, the longer it takes, the closer you are to getting your answer. Hang in there!

Has anyone received an interview this week? This waiting is killing me! I wish they'd let us know one way or the other. Does anyone know if NYU dings people as they go or will the majority of dings take plac on April 1? Has anyone heard of people actually getting invited to interviews this late in the round or on April 1?

I got an interview invite late yesterday. Applied 1/15..

F / international / 5 years WE PE / liberal arts

I also have a question... Can anyone (particularly current students) comment on how emails in support of a candidate from current students/alumni are received by AdCom? I saw the following from a Q&A published in BusinessWeek, but it was back in 2005, so I'm not sure how these emails are perceived now. Thanks!

Q: Does it help if an alumnus writes a recommendation?
A: We love recommendations from alumni. We [also] welcome...casual e-mails in support of applicants from our alumni and current students.

Thanks. Its good to know that people are still getting interviews. Just to be clear, you are international but living in the US right (which would be similar to my status)?

In answer to your questions, when i visited NYU this past december, they said they welcome people supporting potential candidates. I believe they have a drop box on campus where people can go and submit a note of support for an applicant.

I am not 100% sure about an alumnus writing an email to the admin office - as far as I can remember (as I think I asked that questions while on campus) they welcome that too. Just to be sure though, you might as well give the admissions office a quick call to confirm. Good luck with your interview

Thanks, appreciate your input. When you said there is a drop box, you mean one for current students to write a note to vouch for a candidate?

To answer your question, yes I am an international currently working in the US.

Thanks again!!
