The wait does indeed continue ....Congratulations on your acceptance at UNC though, it must feel good to have a plan in hand! I've started studying for my GMAT retake to strengthen my reapplication efforts for next year....although I'm still hanging on to a super faint glimmer of hope that by some miracle, a space will open up!

Only time will tell I guess...and the waiting is the hardest part!

Any news on WL movement in the past few weeks guys? Are there any people on gmatclub still on the waitlist? Its super quiet out here...

In the google group for waitlisters, there were two reports of acceptances on July 19th. Other than that, there has been no recent movement that I have heard of, and the wait continues.

I'll also be starting at Ross this fall, would be happy to help out as well. I was also admitted off the waitlist so I can share experiences related to that.

Ross students,
in your opinion, can the case for this essay be dated at 2000-2002 or it's too old?

Describe a personal challenge or obstacle and why you view it as such. How have you dealt with it? What have you learned from it?

I don't think there are any hard and fast rules regarding the matter, but the more recent the event, the better. I'd say within the last 3-4 years is safe.

However, if the event was so significant that it dramatically affected the way you live, think, or view the world, then I say go for it!

In for round 1.

On a different note, any other males get an e-mail about a "Value of an MBA for women" event? Honestly, I would like to go, but I think they're confused by my name.

I believe the email went out to everybody who has registered on Ross's website at any time in the past. And I certainly don't think this is a women only event.

Thanks rpratt620 and mreevit for offering help! its much appreciated (and needed!!) Right now, I'm assessing the strength of my profile and researching essays.

My first question to you is- I've heard (from previous applicants) that Ross places more emphasis on gpa than it does on GMAT. is that correct?

Phew! thank you.. thank you guys so much!! My gpa is actually very low but GMAT is decent (710)

Would you guys recommend that I take any other measure to offset my low GPA, or the GMAT would suffice?

Taking classes are especially useful if they are quant heavy, i.e. Stats, Calculus, Accounting, Finance, and Econ would be some of the most common ones to take.
If you have already taken these classes and scored low (anything below a B I would say) or if you have never taken these classes before than I would encourage you to pick one, or possibly even two classes, if you have the time, to do before you submit your application.
There are some good online classes you can take through credible institutions that can be completed in 2 months or less.
Taking a class (or a couple) will have a minimal effect on your GPA even if you get an A. However, it sends a strong signal to the adcom that you really are serious about school this time around.
Just keep in mind that if you do undertake a class make sure you get at least a high B and preferably an A, lest you send the wrong message again!
