I don't think the essays are always the same. And its better to wait for the official release.
That being said, the essays are mostly about the professional goals/life post MBA.
You can probably start working on a skeletal framework

As we still have some time for the essays and deadlines,
If I were you, I would take another shot at the GMAT.
Considering the uncertainties in the US, I feel things are going to be extremely competitive at Canada this year.
Also, Rotman is by-far the most competitive business school in Canada.

Disclaimer : Please take the above advice with a pinch of salt, as I have just written this with my limited experience.
I am first time applicant and yet to take the GMAT.

I would argue that any GMAT under 670 would not be competitive... I would not try to apply with a GMAT that's lower than the average.

However, that is only looking at GMAT alone. Your GPA is pretty high, and you have consulting experience. It's just how it's leveraged and how you tell your story.

I'm also going to argue that it isn't how much work experience you have, but how progressive your experience is.

If I were a recruiter, I would take someone who went from an analyst, to a consultant, to an engagement manager within four years than someone who took six years to go from analyst to consultant.

Just sayin'.

Good news, guys. The application deadlines are out.

Application Deadlines

Round 1: October 16, 2017 (Decision by December 15, 2017)
Round 2: January 8, 2018 (Decision by March 2, 2018)
Round 3: February 26, 2018 (Decision by April 20, 2018)
Round 4: April 16, 2018 (Decision by May 25, 2018)
Round 5: May 21, 2018 (Decision by June 22, 2018)

For now seems like the essays are the same, 2 essays and a video essay.

Essay 1 (500 Word Maximum)

Please describe why you are pursuing an MBA? Why Rotman? Why now?

Reflection Question (3-5 word maximum)

List 3-5 attributes or characteristics that best describe you. Limit response to 50 characters.

113 days to go for the R1 deadline!

Hi,

Can any current student or Alum throw some light onto how is Rotman for an Indian candidate interested in a career in Product Management in tech? Which are the major companies willing to hire internationals and in what numbers do they recruit?

Please see Rotman requirements in the link below

Basically you can do it yourself but make sure that it is signed and sealed. Based on my last year experience, you do not need to send the official transcript until you are admitted. When you do your application, you only need to scan your transcript and upload to the portal. However, if you want to be extra sure, you can check with the adcom.

Hi guys,
Starting from today, I will be introducing one of the admits, who will be joining us for the chat(scheduled on 20th August)

So, here goes to that one person who made this possible
Sheila Quiroga
Published a blog at https://wondersuite.blogspot.ca that mainly focuses on helping international students with MBA.
She first worked at a Thai construction company but eventually moved to a publishing company as a Marketing Manager.
Sheila established her own start-up company in the Philippines that offers office supplies she designed herself.
She likes designing paraphernalia with Adobe softwares, which is one of the reasons that attracted her to Rotman,
given that this school values creativity and business design. She will be pursuing Technology Consulting and eventually
establish another company in the future. Sheila likes helping not only humans, but also animals in need. That’s why she
volunteered in an animal welfare group that specifically rehabilitates pit bulls rescued from an international online dog
fighting. For her leisure time, she loves doing Chinese martial arts and swimming.

I am a Vietnamese, have been living in Singapore for the past 10 years in which 4 years with
National University of Singapore and 6 years with Credit Suisse AG as APAC head for
customized client reporting for its Private Banking arm.

My career goal post MBA is to join a Asset Management firm.

Hi mgcon,

I remember during the admit chat, there was an admit(Mert) who had a similar case
of a slightly below par CGPA. In fact if i remember correctly, he had a GPA of 2.34.
You should try and get in touch with him to get clarity on what he did to offset the low CGPA

Btw his username is mertyucesoyyy!

Apologies for the typo..

Corrected the typo, I meant Fall 2018..

That happened because to the excitement
of seeing somebody getting an interview invite this early
in the application cycle
