Calling all TUCK 2008 applicants

Ok I will try to answer your questions

about whether this essay is reviewed seperately, I think the answer is yes, because this essay asks you to write about include degrees earned!! so obviously the people who review this essay don't EVEN have access to your resume!

About whether to even bother sending it. Hmmmm... given the fact that you have not been invited to interview I don't think you should expect an admit (sorry), but you might get waitlisted!! and with a WL you are still in the game, while the financial aid application deadline is today and if you don't apply for it today you will be out of the game for fin aid even if you eventually get an admit from the WL. Also, after all this essay writting for R2 it is really easy to complose a one page short bio essay! it took me like 2-3 hours to write a nice essay because I had used many of my 'pitch' sentences that I have come up with for other essays.

Yep .. You are right.. You still have some 30hrs left to meet the deadline.

BTW, I am wondering how this scholarship application will play a part in the selection process?

yeah the deadline is technically March 1st, but Saturday is not a workday so in case you have questions/concerns you are out of luck.

And since I am using a new technology to send faxes (I just figured out how to send faxes from my computer) I want to call and make sure the fax actually got there

And.. I don't think the scholarhip application has any influence on admision decision since for most rounds the scholarship application deadline is after the decision deadline

PS: I seem to be the most stupid applicant at Tuck since I made a mistake on my fin aid application that I faxed yesterday now I have to fax it again with a correction ... this is only the last one of the many stupid mistakes I have made this application season ... so frustrating

The essay i submitted is way over the word limit (600 words). But i took Tuck Adcom advice to heart, that they want to hear everything about us .

I was under the impression that we should talk about one aspect of us.. talked a lot about my ECs n not so much about my work exp. Anyways... whts done is done..

I did.. visited Tuck sometime in Dec in the middle of a snow storm.. i loved it

out of curiosity... how many people have visited the campus?
i'm wondering how much that plays into whether you get a more serious consideration...

i did not visit the campus though about 3 weeks before my waitlist, i got something in the mail i thought was just a generic letter encouraging me to visit the school.... i figured if they want me out there i would actually get an on-campus interview but no such luck

I submitted my Financial Aid and Scholarship form on Saturday just an hour after the deadline. I had such a tough time trying to get across the materials via fax..I probably tried a gazillion times before deciding to make a phone call to the financial aid office, hoping that someone would be there to help with this "Busy" fax problem..Guess what! When I called, Diane Bonin, the lady at Financial Aid office, had a voicemail greeting stating that the fax number has been busy all week with applicants faxing in their forms and noted that it is okay for the applicants to e-mail their forms to her or to the Financial Aid (tuck.financial.aid@dartmouth.edu) e-mail address.. I almost fell of my chair when I learned that this e-mail alternative is in deed available. Had I known this earlier, I would have saved a ton of time and agony trying repeatedly with that busy fax number. I wish the Tuck folks made this announcement on their Web site apart from their voicemail greeting.

Later that evening when I sent in my forms as a PDF attachment, I included a note suggesting to make such information available to everyone through their website as well. Had I not made that phone call, I would have never known that it is okay to send the forms via e-mail. Did anyone of you had a similar experience sending in your forms?

Also, when I spoke last Friday to the Tuck Admissions (a staffer named Holly) , I was told that the interview invites will be going out all the way till March 21st (the cut-off date for January Round applicant decisions). So, looks like it is worth holding on to the shreds of hope that you still may have left after all these weeks and months of waiting..Good luck..

Hey guys - I faxed in all the aid/scholarship forms last Friday, it all went through, confirmation page and everything. Did anyone get an email or status update on the application site that said your docs had been received?
