Just got an interview invite! Submitted on 5th minutes before deadline.
I would really appreciate any recommendations on on campus Vs off campus interviews. Since I'm in LA, it definitely wouldn't be a problem to do it on campus..

Just got an interview invite email 10 minutes ago. My status reads "Your application is complete for committee review and will have a decision released by the publish date for your round."

Thanks. Congrats to you too. I'll probably do off campus since I'm in Detroit. I haven't visited the school yet though. I guess I'll wait to see if I get in. Do you think there's any benefit to doing on campus?

If you're in LA, I would recommend on-campus unless it doesn't work for your schedule. From what I remember for R1 they didn't offer on-campus interviews on weekends, and I would have had a hard time making it there for one on a weekday even though I'm only about 2 hours away from UCLA. I had just visited Anderson the previous week so I didn't see any urgent need for another trip there just for a half hour interview.

So I did mine off-campus with an alum, and it went well. Alums can sometimes be a mixed bag, whereas with AdCom/student interviews you're more likely to get a very vanilla interview. AdCom obviously didn't penalize me too much for choosing off-campus though so it's really up to you.

In your case I would recommend interviewing off-campus and saving your money/vacation days til you get a decision from the AdCom. You won't be penalized for not making a trip from Detroit.

I live on the East Coast and did my interview with a local alum. I eventually got in and I am yet to visit Anderson. However, I will definitely do it soon. I am not signing my debt-free life away without checking the product carefully first. ;) There is an added benifit in doing your interview on campus because you will get a sense of the culture of the school but I do not think it's advantageous for admission purposes.
