Essay 1: What event or life experience has had the greatest influence in shaping your character and why? (750 words)
Essay 2: Describe your short-term and long-term career goals. What is your motivation for pursuing an MBA now and how will UCLA Anderson help you to achieve your goals? (750 words)

MBA Optional Essays:
Essay 3: You may respond to the following question via written essay, audio or video clip: What is something people will find surprising about you?
Essay 4: Are there any extenuating circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? (250 words)

MBA Reapplicant Essay:
Please describe your career progress since you last applied and ways in which you have enhanced your candidacy. Include updates on short-term and long-term career goals, as well as your continued interest in UCLA Anderson. (750 words)

FEMBA Required Essays:
Essay 1: How have people, events, and / or situations in your life influenced who you are today? (Maximum 1 page, double-spaced, 12 point font)
Essay 2: Why a UCLA Anderson MBA? Why FEMBA? Why are these the right three years in your career to earn your MBA? (Maximum 1 page, double-spaced, 12 point font)
Essay 3: Discuss your plans to have your UCLA MBA facilitate you being either a career enhancer, shifter or explorer* If your interests are entrepreneurial, are you already an entrepreneur, or do you plan to be an entrepreneur and if so when and how? (Maximum 1 page, double-spaced, 12 point font)
Enhancer = I plan to continue in the same field/function and see FEMBA as necessary to advance and stay competitive.
Shifter = I want to change either industries or job functions and want FEMBA to help me facilitate this shift.
Explorer = I want to make some kind of career shift and want to identify this goal as I move through FEMBA.

FEMBA Optional Essays:
Essay 4: Are there any additional circumstances in your profile about which the Admissions Committee should be aware? (Maximum 1 page, double-spaced, 12 point font)
If any of these scenarios apply to you, please address specifically:
If commuting by plane, please detail your commute plans.
If you are not currently employed full time, please explain your employment situation right now and your career search plan to be employed by the beginning of the program.
If you are currently enrolled in another MBA program, please clarify your status in that program (standing, % complete, etc.), and explain your reason for wanting to begin UCLA Anderson.
If you were on academic probation or had failing grades, please address.

it's a transcript of chat session conducted by accepted.com between MJ Shores and 2010 applicants. Note that MJ mentions that order of invite release is not importnat and that target invite close date is early December. Last year the deadline was 10/16, so unless there has been a change, I assume the chat log is still relevant.

I also checked Gmatclub's list of last two years thread; seems like most in the thread get invites starting the 4th week, which in our case is 11/17.
So I guess we can relax until next week. and hold our breath starting 11/17~12/1.

I would definitely shoot for the full-time program if you want to change careers. I'm a 2009 FEMBA graduate, and most of us did not manage to change careers. It's true that we graduated during a bad year. However, the on-campus recruiting is heavily biased towards full-time students. Many employers had a definite preference for full-timers.

Are you in LA? As a FEMBA in San Diego, I missed out on many of the auxiliary benefits of being in an MBA program - student clubs, guest speakers, etc. You will only be able to do these if you live in LA and your schedule allows some flexibility to be on campus. I think the FEMBA admins try to minimize these disadvantages of the program.

In general, I think you'll make a more memorable impression if you have a video. It's basically an opportunity to 'interview' early -- showing adcoms you can communicate and present yourself well.

The deadline last year was around May 5th. Should be similar this year if the information hasn't been released yet. Hope this helps.

Hey everyone - I've taken on UCLA Anderson thread management responsibilities so I've made a few aesthetic updates to the initial post. Hopefully the roll call is up to date (and I didn't make any cut/paste errors). For FEMBA applicants, I noticed there was only one bucket so I put everyone in R1 (unless you recently specificed otherwise). Please let me know if you need me to update anything.

Secondly, I wanted to encourage you to read the MBA student blogs to get a better idea about what life is like at UCLA Anderson. Though it may not feel like a priority while you're cranking out these essays, a better understanding of our school's strengths and culture would really shine through on essays!

What does this status mean

"Your application is complete for committee review" .

Does this mean that all documents are in place and app will be checked soon?

or it means that adcom has gone through the application.

Fellow FEMBA R1 applicants....

Just curious...If you've signed up for the interview, do you know if you are being interviewed by a member of the adcom, an alum, or 2nd/3rd year student? I don't think my confirmation mentioned anything about whom I might be interviewing with.

@jamster21: i haven't submitted my apps yet, hence no interview signup. I forgot where I was reading but the impression I have is that it's a blind interview by a 2nd or 3rd year student (I may be totally wrong though).

My status as well says application complete for committee review;
I think it means you have filled out all fields in the online application and your app is being reviewed.

p.s. I still don’t apprehend what will happen on Nov. 3rd. Those of you who submitted would know what I’m talking about.

I’m logging in 4 times a day. Checking status has become a morning routine…

@analyst ... maybe you could check with FEMBA admissions to see what that status means? When did you submit your app? I submitted mine 2 days ago, and my status says "Submitted" (just checked it a few minutes ago). I'll let you know if my app status changes.

Interesting, they seem to have changed the questions for R2, for R1 the questions were:

"Essay Questions:
1.What is your relationship to the candidate and how long have you known him or her? How would you compare the candidate to others with similar responsibilities within the organization?
2.Comment on the candidate’s career progression to date. How would you describe his or her potential for professional growth and development?
3.Comment on the candidate’s aptitude for strategic thinking, leadership, and/or management.
4.Describe how the candidate deals with challenges.
5.Is there anything else that you would like us to know about the candidate?"'

Or the web page could be out of date.

Yes I attended one back in September, and yes they take questions. Only the admissions officer can speak we all need to type our questions. Its pretty nice though.
