I've just received an email with the title "Vanderbilt MBA Application Status: Interview Invitation" with these lines:
"Regardless of your stage in the application process, we suggest that you schedule your evaluative interview. An evaluative interview with a member of the Admissions Committee is required of all applicants to complete the application."
I've finished my online application for the Jan 16 deadline except one of my recommenders has not submitted his recommendation yet. Am I late for this deadline?
Is this letter a normal interview invitation?
Many thanks

Yes, this is a normal interview invitation letter. I know the language is ambiguous.
If you have received invite, I don't think you are late for deadline.

Super Super Excited !!!! Got a call yesterday that I am in.....Ehhhaaaaaaaaaa!!!
But in all the excitement I forgot to ask about the Scholarship. The adcom associate did mention that they dispatched the package with all the details. My owen page just shows admitted. How about the rest of you? How were the ones who did receive scholarship notified?

And Kprizzle I would want your input on apartments I should be looking at?

Is anyone coming for the April 13-14 weeekend?

Anyone from East side of US? I stay in Boston.

Anyone coming to the Event the 17th-18th?

Going to visit Vanderbilt February 6.

Wanted to come down for Discover Weekend but have ski vacation at Whistler. Wish it was another weekend.

Also I am another east coaster --- New York here.

I am invited to an evaluative interview and I accepted an interview. However, I haven't received an confirmation email yet. How long does it take for school to contact student?

Whoever got admitted by now, Kudos and congratulations! I hope to be one of you soon. Could you spare me with interview questions? I heard it will take approx. 30 minutes or so. Please give me a lowdown:)

Thank you.

Interview-
did everyone visit on campus for the interview? Or, attend the event in your city? or telephone interview? I live in eastcoast and I love to visit school, but that costs me at least 600 dollars with hotel, and transportation. If Vanderbilt gives me a green light, I will definitely attend, but without certainty, I might lose 600 dollars. It's a gamble to me. I am not sure what to do. Anybody shed some lights on this matter?

I actually set up an evaluative interview locally (SF Bay Area). I received a call from the adcom about an event they would be attending, and they specifically asked if I would be interested in interviewing at that time. I still plan on visiting the campus at some point...just haven't gotten around to it.

I would check to see if they plan on visiting your area anytime soon. Otherwise, if you can afford it, I'd definitely make the trip to Nashville - especially if Vandy is one of your top choices.

Vanderbilt went to SF on Jan 19. How was the interview? I hope it went well. I know Vanderbilt comes to NY on Feb 4th but I am not sure if the school is willing to interview its candidates on that day.

It seems like it was forever ago...but yea, it went well. It was my first interview and thankfully, it was more of a casual conversation. Pretty typical from what I've heard/read so far...walk me through your resume, why an MBA, why now, talk about diversity experiences, team experiences, any questions you have, etc.

I'd call/email just to ask whether you could schedule an interview. It couldn't hurt. Besides, everyone I've talked to at Vandy has been super friendly and helpful.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I appreciate it. I emailed the school but haven't received a reply yet. I first asked if they are willing to interview while visiting NY. I am waiting for their reply.

I agree with you. I called Vanderbilt admissions office several times during my application process, and the admissions staff were super friendly. Plus, admission ambassador was quick to answer my questions despite their busy schedule.

I got accepted and did a phone interview, I really don't feel like it negatively impacted my application in the slightest.
