Xerox, thanks for the update. Any info on how the applicants are split up between the 29th and the 5th and the purpose of having two dates? Is it completely random?

I have no idea, and invite dates do not matter. Getting an interview invite at any date is a wonderful sign though. Keep in mind that no single component of the application is decisive, but all of them together are.

Similarly, the price/style/color/fit of suit you wear to interview does not matter; neither do things like weather, brand of your time piece, or your grandmother's name--on a second thought, having a famous granny like Mrs. Margaret Thatcher might actually help one stand out a bit .

As to the one-week gap between the dates, my guess is that from a purely operational point of view, the Adcom is capacity constrained, and the volume of applications is always high. It may be just easier for them to go through the decisions in two parts, but again - this is just my guess.

Ha ha, thanks and kudos xerox!

In retrospect, I would like to be in your shoes, guys. For those who will get into the best school in the world, the awesomeness has already started.

Sorry for being philosophical here.

Good luck to all!

These are allowed only until Friday 12AM. After interview invite day starts, any posts that are not Wharton related will be bringing unnecessary stress to everyone on this list and may not be tolerated.

What a ridiculous Page 19. An utter waste of forum space and, what is infinitely more important, time!

There are two cardinal rules of partaking in a forum:

Rule #1: Respect the "Internets"
Rule #2: Don't forget Rule #1

i hope the invites go out in one wave @ midnight EST (wharton time). I don't think i could handle the suspense. Or at least it would make me very unproductive @ work tomorrow.

OMG, this feels a bit surreal, but the first invite is tomorrow! Wow, it just hit me (again).

First thing I do tomorrow when I wake up (before brushing, before walking the dog): check my email! I hope they have it out at one set time (like Chicago's), say 7am PST (10 EST).

guys, I just don't want to get into your anxiety, but try checking the app page...I just checked it out of anxiety and found a message in the lower part where there was a change in status!!!

They haven't sent an email so far

Of course things could be different this year.

this is really painful....they should have sent all the invites on the same day.......will have to go through this again on 5th Nov if I don't get an invite today

Agreed! But it does beat Booth's Oct 27 - Nov 10 rolling interview invite period... that is currently my hell.

I don't understand why it's taking so long.

My Gmail is open, along with GC and fully logged-in Wharton app page.

I did not get an invite today. I'm a re-applicant after interviewing round 2 last year and getting WLd. My feeling is that maybe re-applicants - because they want to re-review last year's apps - will be invited next week. In addition, Wharton may have targeted fields like IB, PE, consulting first since they will comprise majority of the class (I'm in biotech/pharma industry). Who knows.

my boyfriend who is an entrepreneur got an invite today, but i didn't - i work in an investment bank. I know someone else who works with me who got an invite too, so i don't think it's sent out by industry or profession.

i am hoping there is another wave later today.. didn't someone mention there were multiple notifications for invites on the same day last year?

How dare you destroy a perfectly good rationalization!

Seriously though, its time to just breathe and see what happens next. Hoping for the best with the rest of you guys, and gals

Did anybody who is a former banker that then transferred to a PE firm within the oil and gas industry (middle market, not bulge bracket) but only worked for 1 year instead of the customary 2, and attended a west coast public university with a degree in engineering get one? i think they would review anyone with such a profile last because it it makes the most sense if you sit down and think about it.

At least now I can continue contemplating my chances while I do my marathon tomorrow. I've got used to thinking about Wharton while running so that's a good thing I guess.

I really do not think the interview invites are random. It is the same with the application review process being "holistic".

Invites are most definitely random in order, and only depend on the length of review for a particular application. Length differs because the review process involves a bunch of people, who each operates on a different schedule, and the approach to candidacy evaluation is most definitely holistic, i.e. all-encompassing: no single component of the application is decisive, but all of them together are.
