Hi,

I have received offers both from Cambridge Judge (part funded) and the Chicago Booth EMBA (full priced). The programmes are very different in terms of cost, structure and peer group, so I am really quite struggling with making my choice. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I am an older (34yo) candidate with a doctorate, as well as big 4 consulting and some boutique experience across operations and marketing. I didn't want to do a 2 year degree given my age and level of experience (currently working as engagement manager) so I opted for 1 year degrees - initially targeting Oxbridge, INSEAD and IE. The EMBA at Booth was added to the list because I received a lot of feedback from clients where they thought that an executive programme would potentially benefit me more due to the network being more mature (and that it would allow me to carry on working).

My primary reason for doing the MBA is to move into strategy (whereas on the consulting side or in-house), but failing that, there are areas within growth/innovation consulting where I could utilise the MBA/network as well - particularly since I have been working with the fintech/startup scene a lot and there are opportunities in my home country to join seed VC funds.

To me Cambridge sounds like a great MBA and a fun year but I would definitely be amongst the oldest in class. It is also 4 times cheaper with the scholarship than Chicago. On the other hand Chicago has an excellent academic programme, and I imagine that they will have better contacts for strategy. However I am not sure if the costs are worth it in terms of ROI. I am also worried that an EMBA still may carry less weight.

Thanks in advance for sharing your thoughts!
