Cost of x widgets= xy/100(converting cents to dollars)
Selling price of q widgets= qz
Therefore profit= xz/q - xy/100

Cost of x widgets in dollars = xy/100

No. of boxes = x/q (as q widgets per box)

Profit = xz/q - xy/100

Option B

Cost price = x * y/100 = xy/100

Number of boxes = x/q

Selling price = xz/q

Profit = xz/q - xy/100.

B is the correct answer.

C is the correct answer.

SP = x*z/q
so profit

xz/q - xy/100

Given:
1. Carol buys x widgets at a cost of y cents per widget.
2. She packages them, q widgets per box, and sells them at a price of z dollars per box.

Asked: What is the amount of profit, in dollars, that she makes on the sale (profit = sales revenue − cost)?

1. Carol buys x widgets at a cost of y cents per widget.
Cost price for x widgets = xy cents = $xy/100

2. She packages them, q widgets per box, and sells them at a price of z dollars per box.
Number of boxes = x/q boxes
Sales revenue = $ (x/q) * z = $ xz/q

Profit = Sales - Cost
= $ (xz/q - xy/100)

IMO B
