Imo C
The problem with the original sentence is of modifier .
The modifiers are not placed correctly.
Retirement on is awkward , it should be retiring on.
C corrects all these mistakes.
A does not make sense and there is unnecessary parallelism .
B usage of being and retirement on
D wrong usage of and and retirement on
E having a gold watch and use of being.
Am i correct in my reasoning ?

Changes in the nature of both the workforce and the workplace mean that the once popular dream of working for the same company for twenty years, a reward of a gold watch, and retirement on a pension is fading.

A. mean that the once popular dream of working for the same company for twenty years, a reward of a gold watch, and retirement on
PARALLELISM is not maintained among WORKING, REWARD & RETIREMENT. Hence Incorrect.

B. mean that the once popular dream of working for the same company for twenty years, being rewarded by a gold watch, and retirement on
PARALLELISM is not maintained among WORKING, BEING REWARDED & RETIREMENT. Hence Incorrect.

C. mean that the once popular dream of working for the same company for twenty years, receiving a gold watch as a reward, and then retiring with
CORRECT

D. mean that the once popular dream that working for the same company for twenty years, and a reward of a gold watch, and a retirement on
Use of THAT leads to FRAGMENTED sentence. Moreover, PARALLELISM is not maintained among WORKING, REWARD & RETIREMENT. Hence Incorrect.

E. mean that the dream, once popular, of working for the same company for twenty years, having a gold watch as a reward, and being able to retire on
As explained in option D, PARALLELISM is not maintained Hence Incorrect.

We have a list dreams here and that should be in parallel.

Only (C) maintains that parallelism.
