So the answers all are more than 4125, so the answer is D.

4200 can be the population of X not Y.

Why not

How did u get 4125?

It just says that the population of X is divisible by 3,4,5,7

And their sum is the population of Y

The population of X should be divisible by 3,4,6,7 not Y.

4200 can be population of X

I think D is the answer. max number of population of X can be 420*11=4620 (less than 5000 and multiple of 420). To calculate 4620/3+4620/4+4620/6+4620/7=4125. So 4125 is the maximum what the popualtion of Y can be
I made mistake here, divided by 6 not by 5.

389*11=4279

The maximum possible population of Island Y is 4279.

As per the question, population of Y can be anything such as 4279, 3890 etc.
The maximum possible population of Y is 4279

In the options, we have only 4279.

Population of x is a multiple of 420.
Instead of 11, if you place 12, population would be 12 * 420 = 5040.

But question says that population of x is fewer than 5000. So, we place 11 there.

So, 11 * 420 = 4620 is the maximum possible population of Island X.

What is the population of Island Y? A.4200 B.4279 C.4581 D. None of these Can anyone solve this math in details?
B. 4279
I’ll explain if needed but seeing there are so many replies i’m sure someone must’ve done it already

PS Question - Sep 02 A shoe store sells a new model of running shoe for $32. At that price, the store sells 80 pairs each week. The manager however estimated that the store will sell 20 additional pairs of shoes each week for every $2 reduction in the price. According to these estimations, what is the range of the shoe prices, which would allow the store to maintain or increase its current weekly revenue from the shoes ? A. 12 B. 13 C. 23 D. 24 E. 25 Source: GMAT Club Tests | Difficulty: Hard
Why this is not A because 12*280=3360 and that’s also greater than 32*80=2560

This was the question (but does not look to be GMAT since it has 4 answer choices).

A.4200

D. None of these
