Hi there, speaking from my own experience, I think it’s a relatively accurate indicator. I didn’t finish all the quant tests I was entitled to - I was left with 8 tests if I recall correctly. As long as you complete the tests within the time limit, I think your average performance will be translated to the actual quant section at the test. That was how I performed anyway

I have to add on that I took the classic edition. If you’re taking the focus edition, you’ll have to consult the founders of the GMAT club

But I think that you should try to complete the sectional test within 60-61 min instead of maxing out at 62. I found the actual GMAT test harder than the sectional tests, so try to buffer for any potential difficult questions you may encounter at the actual test by finishing the rest at a faster pace

so the actual test is harder than the mocks ?

I think difficulty level is comparable to the official practice set. But compared to gmat club test, it’s harder. The type of questions on gmat club seem different too? But then again, I haven’t had a lot of exposure to official questions so I might be wrong on that

if i score a V40 on gmat club’s tests then my official test’s result would be a bit less like V38 around ?

Hmm I don’t think there’s a definite answer to your question because it depends on other factors eg the stage of your prep, your mental state on the test day etc. But I think the official test score shouldn’t be too different from the average scores of the tests you’ve taken in the last stretch of your prep if all else is constant
