To summarize, you’re saying that you cannot do anything promptly but you would like to promptly learn how to solve quant promptly … I think it’s probably somewhat of a neurological statement… Unfortunately.

You don’t really need to be that fast because you do have two minutes and so you could be methodical. At the same time, if you’re not methodical in your love the place then you need to be fast. Different people have different approaches and you need to leverage your strengths.

some people for example can solve things without a timer but they fall apart when they see the pressure of time and there’s a difference between being able to solve things quickly and being able to solve things under time pressure so you need to understand if that is your problem or if you just a slow sober and to get faster, you need to go to simple math questions and see if you can solve them faster. Usually speed is a function of familiarity and a pattern that your mind knows how to follow quickly. Some people are much faster developing those patterns and for summit takes time and the new case it may take time . Either way, I would only solve questions under time pressure and with a timer. Don’t terminate your process yet at the two minute mark but you want to record the time it takes you to solve a question so you can track improvement

Thanks for your suggestions. I’m 9 days away from the exam but still struggling to solve on time. Under pressure I made lots of mistakes. I’ve got extremely low percentile in mock test :(

I would probably reschedule but it’s going to be like $180 at this point. Is it worth saving $120? Probably.

You might hate the answer to this bro, but the truth is, the only way to get better at basic Quant is practice. At least with Arithmetic and Algebra questions anyway. Hope this helps..

At this point, just 9 days away, there is a limit on how much quant improvement you can make. But maybe you can improve your timing and guessing strategies?

One thing that has really helped remove some pressure and anxiety is knowing and accepting beforehand that I will probably guess a few questions. I just have to be smart about. If within 30s I don’t know wtf I am doing, I move on and save 1.5 mins for something else. Learn to let go!

Also know your timings, learn what 2 minutes feels like. When I first started I would feel pressure that I was running out of time on a wordy question. But looking at the clock, I was still at 1 min 40s. I was putting myself under unnecessary pressure while trying to do think. And know your general times. E.g. at question 11 I should have 40 mins left, etc. It gives you a sense of control that will calm you a bit.

Try and practice just timing too. I.e, do practice sets in which you “pass” the exam if you give each question a good go (even if you end up guessing), and finish on time, nevermind the actual score lol. Get your brain used to knowing that yes I can do this, I have confidence that I can make it. You will be surprised to see your actual score will improve.

I came to know about some people who have bypassed online gmat. Will these inflated scores be a problem for offline test takers as well??

You mean they cheated on the online GMAT? If so, yes, those inflated scores affect GMAT percentiles across the board.

Classic (old) GMAT last day is Jan 31, 2024. You will not be able to take it after this date. So in general, I would say you should plan to take the focus test of this point

And so far, based on the feedback and debriefs from the test taking experience, I don’t see any reason not to take the new format. It’s not easier or a walk in the park but it’s not worse either it’s just slightly different.

need help:

i got this question on my mock, it seems like there is a typo in this question. this expression doesn’t make sense to me. like what exactly equals 23 in this question. I wasted 4 mins to make sense out of it as it was the first question in my mock. do you find this question correctly written?

Answer is 10, it was a fluke for me

in-the-arithmetic-sequence-t1-t2-t3-tn-t1-23-and-tn-129374.html#p1786694 - this is the correct question with right format.
