For the geometry one, I drew out the figure, then figured out the angles. Then I set up the equation, sum of interior angles = (n-2)180
The continued from there.
I usually take the algebraic approach for word problems and rates
but when questions involve fractions and decimals, the calculations take a bit of time
especially percent questions where the given percentages aren’t neat like 30%/25% etc
