If the population of a certain country increases at the rate of one person every 15 seconds, by how many persons does the population have in 20 minutes? (Initial population= 5)

It will be 80+5=85 if initial population is 5

4 persons in 1 minute so 80 persons in 20 mins

K is a three digit number such that the ratio of the number to the sum of its digits is least. What is the difference between the hundreds and the tens digits of K
a) 9
b) 8
c) 7
d) None of these
I was able to solve this question by using hit and trial but could not think of a proper way to solve it.

We want to minimise 100a+10b+c/a+b+c
This is equal to
1+99a+9b/a+b+c
and this is clearly least when c is greatest. So we have c=9
.

We then rewrite the fraction as
100−90b+99c/a+b+c
which is least when a
is least. So we have a=1
.

Isolating b
as above gives
10+90a−9ca+b+c
Since a
is non-zero the numerator is positive and the minimum is obtained when b=9
.

A large cube consists of 216 small identical cubes. What is the number of small cubes that do not have a face that is part of a face of the large cube?

A. 54

B. 58

C. 64

D. 76

E. 86

Cube root of 216- 6
Number of cube inside= (N-2)^3= (6-2)^3= 64

i am not getting the solution anyone help plz

Since the large cube is made up of 216 small cubes, its side length is equal to the cubed root of 216, which is 6. Therefore, each layer has 6 x 6 = 36 small cubes, and the total number of small cubes on the inside is 36 x 4 = 144. Therefore, 144 of the smaller cubes have no faces painted at all.

Five chairs surround a big round table in a class. Each of 5 students, A, B, C, D and E sit on one of the chairs. A must sit opposite from the white board and B must sit next to A. How many seating arrangements are there?

Can anyone tell the simplest way of solution..

Is it 60 or 12 could someone please explain..
