5(750) + 15(500) = 112500mlNow remaining amount = 6000 ml
There consumed amount = 112500-6000= 5250ml
Now the consumed bottles are 9; which is a mixture of 750ml and 500 ml bottles can be written as
x + y =9 (x= 750 ml bottles, y = 500ml bottles)
750x+ 500y
750 x + 500 y = 5250 (using the consumed amount to make our 2nd equation )
Now multiplying equation 1 with 500
750x + 500y = 5250 (eq 2)
500x + 500y = 4500 (eq 1) - subtracting them we get
250x = 750
x= 3
substituting in either of the equations we get
y=6
Therefore number of used 500 ml bottles = 6
