It says "increased by 0.5% each month"......So each month is 0.5% greater than the previous month....Must be compounding.
The "word soup" in the question actually is of the lines : 1% in Jan, 1.5% in Feb, 2% in March, 2.5% in April and so on.....% of people showrooming are increasing by 0.5% each month

Yes. It is like that only. I just wanted to know what did I miss in this question language which was a clear differentiator (if any). Otherwise we can always know it through given options.
