Hi,

remaining investors invested in equal numbers in either all three options or a combination of bonds and mutual funds

So EQUAL numbers is in
1) all three options
2) both mutual funds and bonds..

This means 22/2 bought all three and 22/2 bought the rest two but not stocks..

That is why we are getting 7+11+11

11 of the 44 people who choose Mutual Funds+Bonds invest in Stocks
7 solely in stocks
22 of the remaining investors are un decided between stocks.
So, 7+11 it is

22 are not undecided but are in equal number..

There are three cases..
1) solely stocks - 7
2) stocks and one of mutual funds or bonds - $$\frac{1}{4}*44=11$$..
3) all three including stocks - 22/2=11, as remaining 22 invest equally in all three or just two m and b..

Total = 7+11+11 = 29

Hi Math Experts
Actually I can not learn any approach from the posted questions in Overlap type since there are no official solution or expert solution for such very difficult questions. such question is very difficult and complicated but no approached solution is available to learn from.
please Experts put your inputs here otherwise me and others will wate hours trying to solve intuitively without a well organized solution. pretty thanks

=>e=g=11
since a+b+c+d+e+f+g=73 [e+g=73-44-7=22]

how many investors have some stake in stocks?
b+d+f+g=?
7+11+11=29

It took me 2 minutes and 41 seconds to get the right answer. For me, this is more like a reading comprehension question.

Starting with a total of 73 people.
44 are either bonds or MF, but not both, leaving 73-44 = 29 to be accounted for.

One fourth of 44 aforementioned also invest in stocks, so we have 1/4 * 44 = 11 Stock holders. (1)

Seven people decided to invest solely in stocks, leaving 29 - 7 = 22 to be accounted for.
There are now an additional 7 stock holders. (2)

The remaining 22 investors invested in equal numbers in either all three options or a combination of bonds and mutual funds. So, 1/2 * 22 = 11 also are stock holders. (3)

Adding (1), (2), and (3) together, we have 11 + 7 + 11 = 29.
