Going into the interview, I had the attitude of "don't blow it", instead of close the deal/impress. So I think I left something on the table. Probably got a good rating, not an excellent one. I think most interviews go well, it's the excellent ones that get in.

I'll do what I can to continue pursuing my candidacy, this doesn't change the fact that Columbia is my number 1 choice. It ain't over yet...

It seems like everyone who got the first status update today after submitting the application got dinged. Am I the only one who feels that way? Is there anyone who got the interview invite today?[/quote]

Any thoughts on this guys?? I got dinged today as well... =(

I talked with Charlotte a bit at the Hong Kong info session this Mon. She said that two weeks is what they're targeting for.

To the admitted people here: I read somewhere on this forum about a Facebook group a few weeks back. Is there a CBS 2015 group up that I can't seem to find?

Yes, you will get an automatic status update e-mail once your feedback has been submitted.

I would wait for at least 2 weeks before reminding your interviewer about submitting the feedback. They are busy people and you don't want to come across as a pest. I had my interview on Oct 30 and my feedback was submitted yesterday (Nov 7).

I couldn't find a CBS '15 Facebook group either so just started this: https://www.facebook.com/groups/cbs15/

All admitted students (who are matriculating) please join! It would be great to start getting to know the other admits and even find people in our local areas to meet up with.

Thanks. Do you guys know how important the interview is? 10%...20% of the decision? Mine went incredibly well and obviously I am anxious for the interviewer to submit feedback as my story is fresh in her mind.

I think it's impossible to assign a number to the interview, but I've always understood it to be a "truthing" exercise. Unless you've made some effort to visit campus and meet adcoms, the interview is the school's only opportunity to assess your interpersonal skills and get a feel for your real-life personality. I would imagine that most interviews are arranged to either (a) confirm that a strong applicant is indeed strong in person and (b) confirm that international applicants are strong and comfortable in English. I'm sure that many are a combination of both. Twenty percent seems like a reasonable weighting I suppose. While I think a strong interview could rescue an on-the-fence application, I also think a weak one could kill a strong application.

I've got an email on status update instead of receiving a call from adcom.

Here's my timeline. Hope it helps.

J-term,
Submitted 9/29
Interview notification 10/11,
Interviewed 10/20
Interview feedback 10/27
Admission 11/8

Good luck to all of you.
