Hee hee... rhyme spelled quantitative wrong... hee hee ;-)

LOL...

I sure did! I can has cheezburger. I actually wanted to point this very thing out...- its actually quite interesting to see that for a couple of reasons.

It just goes to show that you shouldn't listen to the "noise" about a particular university - Kellogg is not about playing golf all day and doing nothing, GSB is not about doing first order conditions as a pre-req to marketing, etc etc. What it goes to show is that research and visiting a school can make a lot of difference in really understanding what you want and what the school is really all about.

I wonder if he agrees with that statement once again...

You could probably guess but .... no i don't. So far, it's been nothing more than basic algebra - even in cases where calculus is actually a far easier solution. Admittedly, some of the students I've seen in advanced investments are doing some pretty ugly looking stuff, but thats sort of to be expected at that level.

I like the idea of keeping our profiles not insanely huge, I think adding m/f, nationality, an age block, and a place to link to a personal webpage would be good but other than that keep it the same.

Also it would allow people to put as much or as little detail as they feel comfortable with. It seems like some people are paranoid adcoms troll these sites looking to match people to profiles and using that as an eval tool.

I fully agree with River's two points here. If we want to avoid our profiles from being too big, maybe we can each have a small "personal page" to post up our profile, both simple and detailed? This would save the need for a special thread (outside of Ask XXX) to do so.

Kry I was thinking the threads would be good because people can comment on each others and provide insight or incouragement.

yeah, dabots, be VERY careful about sarcasm online. You need a smiley (which hopefully we'll get back soon, hint hint ;-)) or (j/k) to get your point across. I was kind of shocked to see your comment too, but glad you were just joking.

To River, good point, that's why if we each get a personal "webpage" wiki place to post our profile and people can comment, that would work well. Either that or a special forum to post profiles. But that may be overkill. Praet can be the judge of the best method of doing this, as long we have an easy way to access each other's profiles (if we choose to share them).

I am under the impression that there is already a thread to post profiles.. isnt it where everyone posts their profiles and asks them to be evaluated.

or was your point about simply looking up profiles of one another?

oops. i thought the "not providing encouragement" bit would be funny, but it clearly wasn't. i apologize if anybody was put off by that.

some how, I understood it the way you intended..but a few others read it differently..

it goes to prove that communication online is more complex than it looks..

dabots, even the most sincere of intentions can be misinterpreted. I honestly did not see any sarcasm.

In any case, a simple rule is to avoid posting unless you are absolutely sure that your post will add to the discussion. No, I dont want you guys to become robots. Just try to lose some of that spontaneity to make fun of someone or to bring someone down. It poisons the atmosphere and encourages others to do the same (see the two smart alec responses to your post).

Sorry everyone, I know that this is getting very repetitive. I have been here a long time and have seen some really nasty arguments originate out of thin air. You will be surprised at how little it takes to set things off. Its not for nothing that we have a thread about forum etiquette.

I actually laughed at Dabots comment because of how dumb my spelling was on that one. Sometimes we all type faster than we think. Having met him in person, I know he isn't a jerk trying to be insulting.
