Confused, how to start studying?? [#permalink]

Hi its my first time preparing for the GMATS.

I am trying to figure out how to make a study strategy, but I am confused on where to begin.

I have purchased all 8 of the MGMAT study guides and all three of the OGs.
I am planning to take a sample test first to see where I stand, but after that what should I do?

Should I start with the OG? and how?

or should I start tackling the MGMAT guides? I noticed the guides are numbered 1-8. Is there a specific one to start with, or is it ok to start with guide 1 and work my way through?

ANY advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Everyone has a different learning style. But yes, first take a sample test to see where you are. If you score well and only need review in certain topic areas, then go review those topics. But if you want to cover everything, then just start working through the MGMAT guides. Save the OG material for later after you've already reviewed the basics from the guides.

First of all you should have to believe that this dammn thing is not a big high fi thing & secondly you can do it provided you take some time out of your daily routine for this challange

Also the preparation depends on your routine scheduling, if you are working some where then weekends will be the time for a complete go and a hour or two on daily basis.

If you are not having a job then you are a lucky person and take advantage of this.

First of all have a look of this thread
everything-you-need-to-prepare-for-the-gmat-revised-77983.html

You should also look at this one:
gmat-faq-frequently-asked-questions-about-gmat-75809.html

Now after having a detailed know how of the test, just think some target date for your test depending upon your own conditions (job, study etc).

The next step is to dip yourself in the sea by taking a diagnostic test, it can be MBA.com's GMAT prep tool (which is free), the link of this tool is :
gmatprep-gmat-prep-powerprep-power-prep-free-tests-77548.html

You can also check the Manhattan free test:
http://www.manhattangmat.com/gmat-prep-global-home.cfm

After the daignostic tests, you can have your weak areas infront of you. Then it will be the time for all your study material. Start with OG and also keep in touch with GMATclub, this site provides a hell of a help

Make your practise on all the tests available on this site

and last but not the least,, Practice, Practice & Practice is the key!!!

Best of luck!!!!

Hello ccn,

Welcome to the gmatclub.
I would suggest you to take tht ediagnostic test first and then according to your weaknesses , go ahead with the MGMAt / other strategy guides.
Before you start OG , it is very important that you man-down the basic concepts.
MGMAT guides are very good for SC / math.
For CR you may have to look for PowerScore CR.
I did not use anything for RC other than thread discussions by rhyme here at Gmatclub.

Thanks for all the help!

I'll start with the diagnostic test, and go from there.
