Confusion on GMAT Official Reports

For the GMAT exam, they say that you can send the official results to 5 schools free but I then read that for a lot of schools they don't need the official scores?

Basically does this mean that I can apply to schools with only my unofficial report and never send in my GMAT official scores unless they admit me?

Example: HBS says they're ok with unofficial scores reported, does this mean that I don't need to include HBS as one of the 5 schools to send the report to given the high chance of rejection from the school? or will they NOT review your application until they've received the official GMAT report? thank you

Most of the B-schools doesn't need the official score report at the time of applying. But you need the official score report when you get accepted. Same with the transcripts.

You can upload the scanned copy at the time of application. But need to send the original after you get accepted.

Most of the top 10 will not require you submit an official GMAT score report at the time of admissions. Just need to have the official score report at the time of admissions. It has nothing to with the odds of admissions, so you don't need to worry about that either
