E. building a lot in recent times as doing so

Hi ,

Imo C

we need proper present perfect continuous tense here .
So A and B are out
It in D is wrong as what does it refers. It can not refer to an action .
E recent times is redundant i think .
C is correct answer .

I want to ask a question regarding C and E .In C to do so and In E doing are both correct ?
Can someone please answer also please correct my analysis .

Option C : Only the first verb of a sentence (or section) should be conjugated. This answer choice corrects the original Tenses error by using the unconjugated verb building after the conjugated verb been.

Option E : Although this answer choice corrects the original Tenses error by keeping only the first verb of the sentence (or section) conjugated, it creates redundancy by using the wordy phrase in recent times instead of the more concise recently.

Hope this helps.

Kudos +1 if you like it!!

Quote:
A. builds a lot recently as doing so
Wrong form of a verb as we need a participle form after have been. Rejected.

Quote:
B. will build a lot recently as doing so
It repeats the wrong verb form as option A does. Rejected.

Quote:
C. building a lot recently as to do so
Correct form of verb. So let's keep this.

Quote:
D. building a lot recently as it
Here we don't know the antecedent of the pronoun "it". The whole clause can't be replaced by "it". Rejected.

Quote:
E. building a lot in recent times as doing so
We have the correct form of the verb, but "in recent times" is wordy.

So the best option is C.

recent times must contain a time in the past, so, have been doing is not fit in this case. in contrast, recently show that the building continue to present, so, have been doing is fit.

I understand this might sound silly, but I really can't understand why the OA is C. IMO, the verb form for 'do' used as repetitive verb must be the same as the verb form of the actual verb. In this case, the verb form of the actual verb is 'building', so is it correct to use a to+bare verb form in place of verb+ing?

I really need someone's help on this.
