I too believe the answer should be E. A has a wrong comparison.

Correct Answer: Compare Human(Hume) w/ Human

(C) In contrast to those of the rationalists,
(D) Unlike that of the rationalists,
(E) Unlike the rationalists, --> correct

Unlike X, Y is correct idiomatic usage, hence correct Answer must be (E)
