Thanks for letting us know. Alright, 2 with the same timestamp, I'll assume another mass email. Congrats and good luck!

so the 'once every two day' rule is still kinda true. 10:57 is the magic number today, and we missed it again...

I don't think "earlier" or "later" matters for the final decision. You should probably choose what you are comfortable with - skype/on-campus.. While on-campus, you definitely have the benefit of getting to know the school better and meeting some of the students.

If it's 'once every two days', did we just miss the bus??

Except right now, there are no students around. I wasn't able to do a class visit, but at least I got to do an info-session/tour of Sage last week.

For today we did (although a few days ago there were 2 sets of emails sent out) I guess we'll find out tomorrow. If we get denied, yep missed the bus, if we get waitlisted... well then, I guess not...

Re: Cornell (Johnson) 2013 - Calling All Applicants [#permalink]
i remember seeing one or two 'hand-pick' invitations sent out on friday afternoon (while the big batch was in the morning). but other than that, it is pretty consistent. first 'big batch' started 6th, and then just once every two days.

maybe there will be some hand-pick invitations this afternoon again, even tomorrow.

if we get nothing tomorrow, the only hope is they wait-list us.

i will be really disappointed if johnson dinged me w/o interview. i don't think i have a outstanding application, but i was very serious about the whole process, especially the application for johnson.. i just cannot think of what was so bad that even my 740 gmat couldn't bring me to an interview...

I completely agree with you.. I spent the maximum time preparing my Johnson app and essays!

My left mouse button is about to get busted; I have clicked the 'refresh' button in my email account about 100 times in the last 5 mins!!

Anybody tried to call and schedule the interview today? No one picks up. This whole process is weird. I applied for round 1. If decision comes out tomorrow, what my status is going to say? I got the interview invite today. and they mention in the email that they will release decisions on a rolling basis....feels like being waitlisted

lol~

i have a second monitor at work with my hotmail account open, check the junk mail box like crazy, have a hotmail app installed on my smartphone, going thru the forum posts like there is no tomorrow...

just so sad that the school i am most serious about will (most likely) ding me w/o interview...

At least you have an interview invite in hand. Once interviewed they'll let you know when a decision has been rendered - this is better than being waitlisted.

On a waitlist some schools evaluate candidates in subsquent rounds, or not until the end of the application cycle. Also - this is the big part - a waitlist is generally used to manage yield in two cases:

1) Not enough addmitted applicants excepted an offer to fill the class.

2) Applicants who paid the deposit became a no-show over the summer - more often than not because they were accepted off a more prestigious school's waitlist, and this causes a ripple effect across the B-school landscape.

Same here I put so much effort into my johnson App. Although my Gmat is below 700 I think I have pretty good leadership/entrepreneurship/volunteer experience. I also visited the school when I was going through a personal hardship and met with several members of the adcomm. To not even get an interview is a bit upsetting for me since I know my essays were pretty good as well.

i remember seeing this from another forum:

there will be five categories after tomorrow:

1. Admitted after interview
2. Dinged after interview
3. Dinged w/o interview
4. Wait-listed after interview
5. wait-listed w/o interview

I know you guys have talked about "standby" as a form of waitlist. I know what being wait-listed means at a normal school, but could being wait-listed at Johnson mean that we are still in the running for a normal R1 admission because they haven't even reviewed our application yet?

I have a question with regard to the second point you made. Is it okay to pay the deposit and then not go to that school? I mean, other than losing the money, is there any other implication?
