I found ads in today's "The Wall Street Journal". It seems like a typical GMAT problem. So, let's find and assumption :)

Subscribers who started reading The Wall Street Journal in college are 76% more likely to have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and 140% more likely to be starting a full-time job upon graduation versus those who didn't. I think here the assumption is the cause and effect relationship.

Here, ads assume that the reading newspaper is the cause for the high GPA and better job prospects.

Yeah, you are right. It is cause/effect assumption.
