Are you sure about the OA?.. I find D to be a much better option than C.

Here is the notes that I got from Thursday's with Ron session on March, 26 2015 The use of AND

See the video from 01:05:00 to 01:15:00 below

Analysis:
- Option (A), (B) has redundant statements "for people who speak Spanish"
- In (A) and (B) usage of "AND" is wrong..
DAV has written a book, AND so people who speak Spanish do not have to rely on the translation from English - Wrong meaning
- Option (B) usage of "...and then".. give cause and effect relation - WRONG
- Option (C) - "People speaking Spaning" .. says people who are speaking in current time frame.. Wrong meaning
- Option (D) and (E): Usage of "so that" gives the intention of the author here - Correct
- Option (E) - says " so that people can speak Spanish" - people can speak Spanish?? .. WRONG

Answer (D)

C. for people speaking Spanish who

in A.
" for persons who speak spanish
and who do not have to rely on translation from english.

means
has writen a textbook for persons who do not have to rely on translation from english. This is not logic.
in B
"and then they..." is not closely integrated to the preceding parts of the sentence. I call this case " meaning is not close." the meaing relation among parts of sentence is not close.

this error is hard to realize but if we see another choice which show a more close meaning relation,we can find it.

meaning errors on gmat belong to 4 kinds.

meaning is not logic, (choice A above. this case is most popular)
meaning is not clear
meaning is not close (choice B above. this case is hard)
meaning is redundant.

remember these 4 types of meaning erros permit you to realize all meaning problem on sc.

Dear Experts,

Please advise why option B is incorrect.

Authors purpose is sth like he wrote a book in telugu so that telugu people do not have to rely on translations.

just like Gita publishers prints books in all our languages so that we don't have to read Sanskrit or Hindi forcibly and then translate
for shifts the purpose to people whereas authors purpose is they can read comfortably not them.

A and B are wrong as and so then and and then they structures are not parallel to the remaining part of sentence and are also incorrect.
they(and so then and and then they) make the events independent and consecutive which do not provide the intended meaning.

C is incorrect as in-addition to for error in A and B, it changes preference to people currently speaking Spanish(not who generally does it) thereby changing the whole intended meaning once again.

E is also incorrect for and then part just like A and B.

In choice A, B, and C

it makes no sense to say that “XXX has written a computer textbook in 'Spanish' for people who speak / speaking 'Spanish' (it is redundant and doesn't make much sense)

Also,in choice C
people speaking Spanish 'who do not have to rely on translations from English.'('who' narrows down the scope of people → if these people do not rely on translations, then why should 'textbook be written in Spanish')

only D makes sense by using ”so that“ showing a purpose

As Sentence intents to present a cause and effect relationship. “and” doesn’t convey this. D expresses the idea most economically.
Deborah has written a textbook in spanish- why?
“so that” people who speak Spanish do not.

The answer is D
A and connects dependent clause to Independent clause and Dependent clause does not have its own subject .
Also the meaning also is not clear
B the cause and effect is not correct
C seems to suggest that people are right now speaking in Spanish .
D correct
E and is not used correctly and there is a meaning error as well .
