Hi, balancing strategy consulting and early-stage entrepreneurial experience looks credible for a tech startup pivot. The low GPA is a constraint for Booth and Stern, and you’d benefit from test scores to compensate, ideally ~680+ GMAT.

Given entrepreneurial credibility and full-ride scholarship, you also have viability for schools that value grit and innovation like Anderson, Tepper, and Kellogg MBAi. Use essays to explain your GPA candidly and highlight business outcomes, revenues, traction, and scale will speak louder than index cards.

With quantified impact and a GMAT buffer, Booth and Kellogg become viable stretch options.

Thanks for sharing your background @nicksrg! Global schools deeply value structured problem solvers from Big 4 strategy teams. This background gives you a natural fit for case-based programs like Kellogg, Booth, and HEC. Running a startup in parallel for 5 years is impressive. Schools love applicants with “execution + grit,” especially in non-glamour sectors like manufacturing. Bonus: it aligns with ESG, industry digitization, and developing-market narratives. Indonesian candidates are less represented than Indian or Chinese candidates in U.S./EU programs. This improves your diversity value in the class and helps differentiate your application. The Government Scholarship reflects academic excellence, national-level recognition, and potential for post-MBA impact in your region.

Your 3.1 GPA(Below Average for M7/T10). You’ll need to offset this either with A strong GMAT/GRE score (target: GMAT Focus 685+ or GRE 325+). Do you have a mock score?

Ensure your application clearly explains:
What you've learned from consulting that will make you a better founder.
What skills do you still lack (scalability, tech ops, leadership)?
Why an MBA is the bridge to scale your venture.

Tying together consulting + side hustle + future tech goals is crucial. Your essays must not read as “I’m doing a bit of everything.”

Other schools that you can explore: IE, Rotman, Darden, and ESADE.

Questions for you:
1. What kind of scale have you achieved in your manufacturing startup so far (revenue, clients, IP)?
2. Have you led teams or mentored people as part of either your consulting or venture work?
3. What aspect of tech do you plan to focus on (IoT, automation, digital twins)?
4. Where do you envision building your post-MBA business, back in Indonesia, the SEA region, or globally?

Happy to learn more about your journey so we can offer a more tailored assessment of your profile and evaluate your chances at your target schools more accurately. If you'd like, feel free to book a profile evaluation session.
