I am currently working in the arts industry at one of the top galleries in the world. I graduated in 2023 from University of Michigan with a degree in general studies (combination of english and microbiology) and graduated with a 3.7 gpa. I also hold a masters from Parsons School of Design (one of the best design schools in the country) with a 3.9 in Art and Design History and Theory. I am hoping to pivot to get my MBA to go into consulting.

Hi, your background is beautifully non-traditional, and it works. A Michigan undergrad (3.7 GPA), followed by a Parsons master’s (3.9 GPA) in a niche academic field, positions you well to show intellectual range. Your experience in one of the top global art galleries adds credibility and uniqueness.

The pivot to consulting is reasonable, your biggest task is articulating transferable skills (client engagement, research, communication) and building a strong quant foundation via test scores (currently not provided).

With compelling essays, you’re a legit candidate for Yale, Tuck, Darden, and even Columbia. M7s like HBS/GSB are possible, but the execution will need to be perfect.
