Depressed with my Quant score [#permalink]

So I took the GMAT today and messed up my quantitative section real bad... This is the second time I took it, but the first time wasn't serious as the program I'm applying to doesn't consider lower scores.. So I thought I'd study for a Month and try to boost my quant score to a bare minimum of 38/48%
I ended up with 35 on verbal so I'm not too worried about anything but the Math.. I work fulltime and took two weeks off to study nonstop in addition to the weekends I used before that..

I guess what I'm looking for is reassurance that I'm not alone and I can actually do this... Is anyone in the same boat as me?
Any tips?

I used OG 12, this forum and various other books for math.. Kind of disappointed that OG12 was not representative of even the questions I found to be easy on the actual test...

Scored a 34 on quantitative by the way..

I'm not going to take the test so soon again so I really need help with strategies

Hey,

Good news is that your verbal score is decent! I believe that many people in the forum will suggest the MGMAT Quant guides if your quant skill is rusty. Honestly, I didn't use all the MGMAT quant books and personally think MGMAT Number properties and Word translation are the best. When you read the books, you should practice the problems in OG12, which are listed in each chapter. Oh, by the way, have you ever looked at the GMATClub Math book? gmat-math-book-87417.html
I am always a big fan of this material and find it very helpful in my prep.

I agree that the difficulty level of quant problems in OG12 may not on par with that on real test, but the concepts tested are the same. IMO, your approach to OG12 problems should be (i) not to focus too much on difficulty level of a certain quant question, but (ii) to understand and master the underlying concept(s) - which specific knowledge(s) you are being tested. An error log should be useful to help keep track of your practice and figure out your deficient areas.

Best of luck!
