Difficulty of Prep Books Versus Online Practice Tests [#permalink] New post   24 Dec 2010, 06:28
Hello,

I recently started studying for the GMAT and have gone through most of the books that are out there already. I am at the point where I can do all of the problems in the GMAC Quant Review book and get no more than a handful of questions wrong out of the 200+ questions.

The other night I did two tests online (the GMAT Club's Quant Diagnostic Test and its "M25" Test). I found both to be far more difficult than what I've seen in the books.

My question is this: are the standard GMAT prep books (including the books printed by GMAC) super easy or are the GMAT Club tests loaded with the most challenging questions? Which am I more likely to see on the real test?

I felt the same way after completing MGMAT books and OG12. One of my problems is lack of practice. But you're correct, GMATClub tests are harder than OG questions.

Yes, it is a bit discouraging. I just wonder which set of questions I am more likely to see on the actual GMAT: GMAC's practice problems or GMAT Club Tests?

Also the GMAT Club Tests seems to distinguish test problems into categories such as "700 level question" or "750 level question". I though that the real GMAT only has three levels of questions (easy, medium, or hard) and doesn't have various levels of "hard" questions.

I don't have answer to this question.
There is one more twist, question from topic(e.g probability) X of medium difficulty level can be hard for a person who is not proficient in that topic. All we can do is practice and practice more and pray for some luck during GMAT.
