Thanks for your time. I am currently scheduled to take the test a week from this thursday and things aren't going well. I am stuck at the 620-650 mark and I am aiming for a 700 min- 46 quant 40 verbal. However, I am having issues. For some reason, unlike most people I find gmat prep harder than
manhattan gmat- quant and verbal. Quant- althought
manhattan gmat is tedious and long, its pretty straight forward. On gmat prep I have to spend so much time to understand what there even asking... yet alone try to solve it. So on my first
manhattan gmat prep after the diagnostic and studying I received a 670- 43 quant 38 verbal. Since then, my quant on gmat prep has been 43 and 44, and verbal has been 35 and 33. I just took a gmat prep today and scored a 620, a 43 quant and 33 verbal. The other I scored a 640 44 quant 35 verbal. Today I ran out of time and had to guess on the last 4 verbal and also guessed randomly on the last 5 quant- both of these im sure brought my score down a lot. I am not sure firstly if I should push off my test date and secondly how to stop the fluctuations with the scores. Any help would be great, Thanks everyone!
A 50 point difference between scores on two different tests (
MGMAT and GMAT prep) is no big deal so I don't see any fluctuations problem.
Unfortunately, your actual GMAT questions will be very similar to GMAT prep questions so you need to be comfortable with their wording and style. Doing
OG questions should take care of this problem. Also, not to discourage you but if I were you, I would think about re-scheduling if 700 is essential. It is unlikely (but not impossible) for one to hit a score of 700 after scoring around 620-640 in GMAT prep a week before. Most people see a drop in their actual scores as compared to scores in GMAT prep since nerves play a role on the actual test. Only after hitting a 750 a GMAT prep would I be confident of getting at least 700 on actual GMAT. So if you have time and would rather not have a low score on your record, think if you want to re-schedule.
